I'm shooting for that your timing is off. I say try putting the Y7 cam gear on the Z6 cam and reset the timing and try it. I wanna say the timing marks are different between the Y series and other sohc d series.

thinking timing too. dont have a y7 gear to try w/ but wouldnt want to. wish I had a z6 pulley to try. The base timing is 12* on the Y and 16* on the Z. Folled some info online I found to set up the timing but think its bad.... Like I said pulley is at TDC and so is Cam but shouldnt I comp for the the timing diff. I know Im not the first to put a OBD1 head on a OBD2... Chime in fuckers. Obviously im :1 Im just waiting for the simple fix to eventually be revealed.

I had it the opposite as I had a y5 head on a Z6 shortblock. Jago is actually running the engine now. It's just another reason why I hate minime's though. I never set timing with the marks. I just toss something long down the combustion chamber and find TDC off of that. Always worked fine for me.

Well I had a D15Z6 head on a Y8 block. That was a bitch and a half to get timing right. Yeah I think you need to adjust for the 4* difference in timing though.

i would have to concur on the timing. ignition or cam, not sure. but you have fuel, air and spark. the only thing that is left to address is the timing.

Good piece of advice right there. some people jam that dizzy key on backwards. Sounds to me like it's definatley in the spark. make sure you have the right dizzy for that head, and make sure your firing order is right. Honda firing orders are confusing
