Default Mini-Me internal swap

I have a good D15b7 engine and a parted out D16z6 engine. My question is can I put the D16z6's rods and crank into the D15b7. Will that consider the D15b7 to be a 1.6L?

The man's correct. Journal sizes are alot different, not to mention the length of the rods.

What crank did you use? According to one of my service manuals the b7 was supposed to have the same crank and rod journal sizes as the d16's. So I took one apart back in my D-series days to try some strange build, but the b7 I had wasn't anywhere close in journals sizes. What kind of machine work did you have done if any? Different wristpin and piston height?

Go B7 you'll get more compression, but .1L less displacement which doesn't matter, less stroke, no oiling problems like y7/y8.

What do you mean that the Y7/Y8 has Oiling problem.

I forget where I saw it, but there was an oil pump comparison of the A6, Z6, and Y8. The A6 and Z6 flowed about the same amount of oil, but the Y8's pump was less than half that. A fairly common thing to do is put a Z6 oil pump along with a Z6 dipstick in a Y8 since the Y8 dipstick would get in the way of the Z6 pump and sump.

If I swap the Z6 oil pump and the Dip Stick to the Y8/Y7, what about the oil pan? Will it still work even thought the Y7/Y8 oil pan's hole for the dipstick is on the side and not in the middle.
