can any non vtec bottom blocks be used to do the swap? My D16Z6 block is cracked. And I need a botom block to put my vtec head on. There are 1.6 non vtec long blocks going for $175 but I'm not sure if I can just use any non vtec block.

personally i would say a a6 but any block is cool...

do all d16 blocks create the same compression when you put a vtec head on?...wondering how high i would be with a d16y7 bottom and a d16z6 head...anyone know

What about those D15B vtec motors. I read that they put out good HP for there size but with the 1.5L it's not going to have as much torque as a 1.6L engine is it?

They are selling these on ebay for cheap. I just don't know about the torque issue.

well i would say a dx block would make more torque.

however get the block milled a bit and then put the head on. it will raise the compression and bump up the hp..

more hp =more torque. its just a given plus its a honda were not supposed to have torque remember. :P

DX block doesnt make more torque its 1.5 liter..any D series block will work..it doesnt even matter because even if the A6 had more compression its not like you would be able to feel the difference.

but dyno wise a milled head would yield a higher compression there fore making more hp...

correct? :P

i have a book that i was reading and they took a B16A and milled it as much as they safely could and they saw a increase of 10 horsepower ..with several other bolt-ons and hot cams. i dont think 10 horsepower is even worth having a milled head that you can never run boost on.

I agree with the last post. But what about the valve clearance on the pistons. Do you have to worry about that at all when doing the DX vtec swap? And what about those D15B engines on ebay?

I never heard about these before. Does anyone know anything about these things? Are they just as good as a D16Z6. They must have high compressiong to make 130 Horses out of a 1.5 liter. Let me know anyone with real knowledge.
