Memory Saver for car electronics

Most thing in your car like your radio for example dont need alot of voltage to keep there memory when you disconnect the battery. If your like me you hate reprogamming your radio or dealing with it when you work on others cars. So for 5 bucks or less you caqn make a memory saver that plugs into a cig lighter and runs off a 9v battery.

What you need:
9v battery (any brand)
Battery replacement strap - radio shack part number 270-325 $1.99
diode- part number 276-1103 $.79
auto dc plug for lighter socket- part number 270-1509 $ 3.99

Ok you got all this crap now youll need a soldering gun and some shrink tubing. Cut the battery strap positive wire in half and strip the the ends. Youll need to then solder in the diode so it only allows voltage out. Youll notice ont he diode there is a symbol like this ->l the arrow is pointing the direstioin the diode allows current. make sure this is pointing toward the plug for lighter socket. Then just connect the negative and positive wires into the lighter plug and your ready to go.
shitty paint but heres how diode should be wired in.
