manuel with automatice engine

will the transmission on a manuel civic (96 dx) bolt up to a automatic d16y8 (ex civic) engine? and do are the ecus different between automatic and manuel transmissions?

Re: manuel with automatice engine

not at all. you can only bolt early d series to late b series engines.

you don't have to have a new ecu. it will show a CEL because it thinks your tranny is non existent, but it will still run flawlessly. I'm still rocking an auto P28 ecu on my manual tranny D16Z6. I'm going to have it changed when I get it chipped and tuned.

as far as I know the auto ecu actualy has a little more aggresive timing curve from what I have heard

i just said they are different...only takes a minute to convert (or just leave it as-is and ignore the cel)
