main relay clicking
 

well i just got my crx boosted early on in the month and i was out driving it last nite and the main relay started clicking and every time it did so it would shut the fuel pump off like it had hick ups. after a few times of doing that the main relay just took a compleat ---- on me. i took it apart and it didnt smell burnt but still wouldnt work. so i put another main relay in and its still doing it... is there something messing with it like grounds, bad ecu ect.? any help would be helpful!

Check your battery connection and make sure your grounds are clean. Sounds like and intermittent connection problem,

I've seen a lot loose grounds at the thermostat that will cause that.....it will do it more at high rpm due to engine vibrations.

Check and clean all grounds. I had a main relay get hot and would click on and off at higher RPM's. Just another thing to check.

t-stat is a pretty common spot to corrode. Some cars have 2 overlapping ring connectors there. Ive had the ground be tight and look clean on the outside but be nasty in between and cause clicks/sputters/etc.

I never trust testing with another old main relay. Take one of them, remove the black cover. Then heat up each solder joint individually and add some new solder. The joints get dry and loose connection. I had a friend go through this the other day. He as trying "known good" relays or so he thought. Problem persisted until he did the resolder.

X2... accords have the same problem.. relay "looks" good but after new solder they work just fine.

so what happened?

also reground with jumper direct back to batt. can solve multitude of problems
