Default LSVTEC oil pump

Okay i know that a proper LSVTEC will have a "VTEC" oil pump. from what i've gathered, you use the B18C* oil pump and water pump.

My question is, can b16a units be used in place of this, or only the b18 line of engines have swappable oil and water pumps?

I know that it will bolt on, most of the b-series part are interchangable, but I don't know if it will pump out the same pressure. I'm using a type-r oil pump in my set-up, but I heard that the b20 oil pump is exacally the same as the ITR and it cost less.

B18C5/B18C1 (OBD2)/B20 pumps have the same part number

im sure a B16 pump will be fine...---- i hope so cuz thats what im running

as for the water pump...the deal is: VTEC water pump needs a VTEC belt. so you can use a B16A/B18C water pump with a B18C belt (NO you cant use a B16 belt, its too short). you can use a LS water pump if you use a LS belt. you cant run a VTEC belt with a non-VTEC pump (or vicevera) cuz one uses rounded teeth and the other sqaure or some ----...

Vtec oil pump, and it doesnt mater which one you get.

I'd stick with the stock water pump, that way you could use your old timing belt. (as dustin mentioned above)

The teeth are the same shape, its the tooth count on the pulley non VTEC = 19t & VTEC = 22t

gsr and b16 oil pumps flow less than the b20 and type r pumps, which are identical.
