Default ls/vtec rod probs

ok I just wasted my first ls/vtec due to a tipical spun rod bearing.I missed a shift pretty abad and over reved it to 9.5k and she spun it. I was wondering if anybody know for sure the reason they do this I have heard that is is because that the rod bolts strech. if that is the case the arp rod bolts should fix this problem right? and if that does does anybody know the max you can rev the ls rods safely with arp rod bolts in a na motor with a higher cr

yeah id guess that your rod bolts are probably the cause... To fix this youre probably going to have to replace the rod and rod cap and maybe the crank (or have it turned and run new bearings) If you have the new rod bolts in place id guess that youre good to hit 8k at least all day long... what happened to your rev limiter?

you accidentally pop 3rd to second, your rev limiter don't mean ----, thats what happened.

I wouldnt be reving an ls/vtec to 9 grand with stock internals. i meen i could maybe see if you had some work done to the head to actually make power that high, but a stock head is not gonna make any power at 9000 rpms's. (thats if its a head that is reved to 9 grand, like a JDM Integra Type-R or a Civic Type-R)
Also the b18 is not usto reving to 8 grand, so i wouldnt be doing it all the time. If you had some rods and ---- in there then i would say go for it. But it should be ok reving to 8000-8200 on ocation.

are you using a vtec oil pump with your set-up?

yeah hes got the oil pump... good thing the valves didnt float and smack the pistons... you might have needed a completely new motor if that happend. Youre gonna need headwork and probably rods to hit 9-9.5 k on a routine basis

ya I am running a 99si oil pump. well it's not ecactly a stock ls/vtec anymore. So thats why I was wondering where is the breaking point for ls rods with arp rod bolts would you still say 8000-8200 if so man I was pushing it last year I would run it to 8500 couple times a day. well anymore opinons are welcome in this area any body that has a ls/vtec what are you running and any problems. and what is the limit on the rods for hp and rpm. thanks
