LS swap questions
i was thinking about taking out my d16Y8 and putting in a LS. my questions are, what all do i need, what ecu do i use, what tranny (can i use any B-series tranny), and about how much should it cost me for parts?
does anybody know of a good source for engines? BTW it's going into a 99 civic EX any other recommendations are welcome. |
Re:LS swap questions
you will need a complete swap (engine, tranny, axles, ecu), engine mounts for d to b, custom shift linkage. depending on which obd you use (i assume you'll stay obd2), determines which ecu you use, i think the obd2 ls ecu's are p74 and/or p75. yeah, you can use any b series trans with that, but it'll have to be hydro or you'll have to do a hydro to cable conversion, which, it's just easier to find a hydro tranny. ----, there are b18's on ebay all the time. when i blew mine up in my teg, i got a 97 longblock for 500 bucks off ebay, it just so happened the guy was about 4 hours away from me, so i just picked it up. with your engine, trans, ecu, mounts, linkage, etc., expect to spend at leas 1k.

Re:LS swap questions
i'd go w/ a vtec engine since there's no extra wiring since u have a stock 99 ex.

Re:LS swap questions
yeah, definitely get a b16 or b18c if you can afford it, but if you're on a low budget, just get the b18 and boost it down the road, it will make some good power for ya.

Re:LS swap questions
Isn't that swap a direct bolt in? I know that the LS bolts into the 92-95 Civic's with using mix and matched stock mounts
