low comp pistons and camshaft
I recently commited to building up my internals in prep for boost and n2o, my question is, I have low comp pistons CR 8.5:1 and I purchased a camshaft from crane cams, but now I wondering if i bought the wrong one. The one i bought said for turbo and n2o use, it has a duration of 224/224 and a gross lift of .423"/.423". Now the other camshaft they offer (which is about $180 more) the duration is 232/232 and the lift is .443"/.443". With the low comp pistons, can this camshaft that i have cause compression problems or anything? I dont know much about cams, this is why I'm asking, so please take it easy on me
Some people have told me, since the lift and the duration isnt as high, wiht the low comp pistons it might not run right. I dunno, its all greek to me...lol Like I know what cams and ---- are, but the numbers I'm not too fimillar with.
Thats what I was thinkin too, but the one with the higher specs are made for running off a stock engine, so I dont know, i think my best bet would be to contact crane cams and ask them...
with lower compression prob.ly you are not being ableto take advantage of a NA cam..
but if you are boosting....i don`t see where the problems are ..not if you have a BIG BIG overlapped cam.
