Listen to this...motor prob.

I was driving on the freeway a couple days ago when I heard something fall out of my engine on to the freeway. I figured it must have been a socket or something. So I drive for 2 more exits then I start hearing some noise from the engine so I take the next exit. I check my oil because I had a leaky oil pump seal already, empty. Luckily I had 3 extra quarts in the car that I used to refill it. I started the car and all 3 quarts leaked on to the ground within 10 seconds, along with a slight knock in my motor. I check it out later after having it towed and the "oil gallery plug" was gone. It unscrewed itself and fell out on the freeway. I got a new one today and put it in and filled the motor back up with oil. I start the car and it knocks for a second and then quiets down. I let it idle for maybe 10 minutes and then drive home. It starts knocking a little on the way and gets worse as I get home.

Is my motor gone? I need some suggestions on why anybody thinks it is knocking? I live in apartments also and can not work on it, nor do I have a place to work on it. Don't have tons of cash to get it fixed somewhere either.

motors gone man, probably spun a bearing welded em together or something. keep driving it. i give it 200-300 miles or less with hard driving and it'll be a goner... mine lasted about 300 miles after it started knocking a lil

I am not going to drive it for another 200-300 miles so I can ---- it up even more...I only drove it for like 5-8 miles like that, when I pull the motor apart what should I expect? Do I just gotta get new bearings? Or am I gonna have to get the crank machined or something

probably going to need to get the crank and crank journals on the block checked. A visual inspection might be all that is needed, make sure there are no gouges or anything like that. then replace w/ the same colour bearing.

yeah at least need to tear it down and replace the bearings, more than likely have the crank machined (9 times out of 10 with a spunt bearing), what kind of engine? i'm sure you can find a crank on here for a couple bucks, i have one for a b18 if that helps :-\

YOUR BEARINGS ARE GONE COZ. BUT IF YOUR CRANK HAS NO SCRATCHES YOU SHOULD BE FINE.( SEEING HOW YOU DIDNT DRIVE TOO MUCH ON IT). BUT SCINCE YOU ARE OPENING THE MOTOR UP U MIGHT AS WELL DO SOME WORK TO IT. THE MACHINE SHOP IS GONNA GIVE YOU THE DICK ANY WAY ;)
