So Ive heard that if your car has high milage and you use one it will throw the engine off balance due to possible worn cranck bearings caused by high milage.I know the stock one is a "harminic balencer" but anyone using one that can tell me different?I just pulled the AC and the power steering so I would like to get rid of that big as pully.My engine has 118k miles and Ive allways used synthetic oil so I would like to believe that my bearings have been well taken care of :-\.

the kind of oil you use isn't quite as important as how often you change the oil and filter. Dirt and blow by get into synthetic oil the same as they get into regular.

I'm going to get a light crank pulley for my LS VTEC, but that's going to be built and balanced.

from what i understand, the argument many people make isnt that the new pulley isnt balanced, its that it lacks having a harmonic balancer...but im talking out my ass

as far as I could tell the stock pulley was just a piece of metal, how does it balance harmonically?

Thw whole lightned crank pulley destroting bearings was started by one guy who posts on like every single board. If they did destroy bearings I'm sure companies would stop using them as they would be up the ying yang with complants and lawsuits, oh I have had the dhr unit on all my cars and had over 60,00 miles on my zc plus whatever it had in Japan . If your intrested I sell dh-racing.com parts and he has the most powerful pulley on the market. I sell them for 120 shipped.

Chris a tuner shop told me that.I was just curiouse if it was true but you make sense.

I know that kyle.......smartty pants! :P.I change my oil every 3k miles even though synthetic is good for 5.

I've got the Unorthodox Racing pulley, the one for just alternator. It's a sweet unit. Weighs like 8 ounces or something. My stock pulley had no rubber at all, and the rust on it probably made it more unbalanced than anything. If you've ever picked up a crank, it's really hard to beleive that a small 1/2 lb. pulley could throw an engine out of balance... Yes my rod bearing did just die. But then again I put like 5k full throttle miles ripping the motor apart, and another 25k of other generally hard miles on it, all with that pulley on there. Total, the motor had 120k...

The pulley doesn't do anything negative in my experience... not caring about your cheap ass D15 cuz you have spare does the bad stuff.

My lightwieght crack pulley hasnt caused me any problems for over a year and a half! i can only tell a bit of diff. when slamming into the gears, feels like there is a hair more torque. that was when i was stock. now i'm a turbocharged b-series killer ;D
