JDM B16a=forged internals?
Just wondering if my jdm b16a (obd-0) has forged rods, pistons, and crankshaft from the factory? Anyone know?
Thanks |
Re:JDM B16a=forged intenals?
NO

Re:JDM B16a=forged internals?
well what are they then--cast?

No my pictures are definitly forged :-\

Re:JDM B16a=forged internals?
i dought the crank is cast
id think it was more some sort of forged steel |
Re:JDM B16a=forged internals?
Crank are strong enough forged or cast they can take a beating....the rod's and pistons on the other hand...the other hand...the piston is the weakest link......but they are both Cast

Re:JDM B16a=forged internals?
gaydm rods and pistons are just a weak as usdm ones

Re:JDM B16a=forged internals?
LMAO, don't forget to break that motor in before you boost it. :P Haha,......

That was an awesome newb question :P

Re:JDM B16a=forged internals?
Damn you guys are harsh. I dont think my motor is 'stronger' just because its jdm. I was just giving you all the info. What the hell does 'break my motor in' mean? I give it hell all the time. And how am I supposed to automatically know everything without first asking someone?! Jeez

Re:JDM B16a=forged internals?
It's all in good fun. ;) Don't take it seriously.
Don't feel bad anyways, for the longest time I thought Vitara pistons were forged. :-[ __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |

:P I dont take it seriously but its annoying! ;D

Re:JDM B16a=forged internals?
Your B16 stuff isnt forged from the factory, but I can say from personal experience, that they can take a ------- beating. The pistons are deff, the weak point. Weak in that they dont handle detonation very well, hahaha. (see my sig)
There is no doubt in my mind that I am going to be able to reach my goal of a little over 300whp on all OEM parts/pump gas and have it hold together for awhile. B16 rods are pretty stout IMHO. Lay them side by side with LS, GSR, ITR and some D's haha. Their size coupled with the short stroke is a big bonus when stepping up to the boost buffet. |
Re:JDM B16a=forged internals?
Sweet man ;D Are B16b pistons the same as B16a?
What other kinds of damage are going to be inflicted upon the shattering of a piston ringland? lol. I guess you'd know. |
Re:JDM B16a=forged internals?
JDM PR3 pistons have 6.01cc of displacment. The B16b PCT pistons have the highest dome and resulting C/R of OEM B series pistons with 8.63 cc.
If you want to make safe power stay with the PR3 slugs on 10psi daily. 12psi at night. This is assuming your B16 burns 0 oil. Im sure you've seen the C-Speed compression calc before, but check it out. Good stuff here.... http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto/c...c/compcalc.php Ive ran US ITR pistons for 9.7ish C/R and US GSR's for 9:1ish C/R with good results. This does require machine work on either the rod or pistons to fit though. What other kinds of damage are going to be inflicted upon the shattering of a piston ringland? lol. I guess you'd know. |
Re:JDM B16a=forged internals?
Thanks for the link and the great tech info.
You are throwing around psi figures but acutal volume of forced induction varies with different a/r ratios and trim sizes right? With that in mind, can my stock internals handle 12psi--for long? |
