ITB are they working????

The internal butterflys in my h22 ........... how the hell do i know if they are working? i can move them manualy and they are hooked up to a diaphram and the diaphram is hooked up to the intake vacume port.. but i dont know if they are realy opeining.. and also if they run on vacume why woudl i need the ecu to worry about ITB? so my question is.........
how do i know they are working.. and if they arnt how do i hook them up so they will??
Im using cromepro with a converted p28

Does the p28 have the equipment added for the fly's?

so by you saying this, your saying kevin doesn't add these to the converted p28's? what exactly does the butterfly's do? could this be why our h22 swapped civic felt slow =x

Its extra work and only h22/gsr manifolds run them has they are a 3 piece design.p28 is designed for single plenum style manifold no butterfly's in the manifold. I dont know what Kevin does but if its just a p28 convert to just like a p28 with eprom no it doesnt have that

Yes this could be a huge reason why they never ran right.

Re: ITB are they working????

On the h22's I have tuned I persoanlly dont like the fly's. I remove them port and blend the plate to keep plenum volume. This is all motor crap that is very important

Re: ITB are they working????

would it make a large difference? i mean just intake, header, exhaust... will it make THAT much of a difference in performance n power output? like how much will it bring the motor down if these fly's were not operating ?

Re: ITB are they working????

WEll the old school tuning style was to just leave them open. This caused huge torque loss down below byt hp gains up top. If they are not activating at all alot. For you guys running p28's on h22's either remove them in total or just leave them open.

I may be wrong but i think only h series has butterflys..... but my car seems fast as ---- most times... the itb is for 4000 and up.. if you look at your runners on your intake (normal running 4000 and below only one set of those runners is working... but once they open both sets of runners are used for air intake.. and Kevin most likly doesnt put the ITB stuff in ECU unless its requested by the person buying the ECU from him.. but i dont know for sure... maby he will chime in here.....

Yea could be i dont know why i didnt think of this befor... Ill try leaving them open.. at least untill i get a hold of Kevin so he can add the ITB controler to my ECU.

Just add them to your ECU its ------- easy. I have done it twice without a problem. http://www.pgmfi.org/twiki/bin/view/Library/AddIABToP28

I have my actual pics of the ecu I did if anyone needs them.
