ITB D series *PIC*

So I have the opportunity to snag a set of custom built ITB's for my Z6

Details on them are:
Runners used from aftermarket IM, with stock locations for injectors. 42mm TB's that taper to 45mm at the butterfly from GSX-R, here's a pic

That white nipple you see on the right is the vacuum can he is selling with it but I'm gonna do something better than that I think

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...d/f6233719.jpg

So my friends similar setup z6 with 100K miles on it or so laid down 117whp stock, with just a catback and msd sci, and no lower baffle on the airbox. I figure my brand new z6 build ought to be able to match that or beat it since its pretty much the same minus the SCI.

So with the ITB setup on there, uber tuned, what do you think I can lay down? Im gonna go for it and if it sucks ill just sell em off, they're only 200 bucks anyways.

I heard that they are only good at WOT. And they sound weird or different. You will have to see.

I think they way he did those clamps would ---- up airflow

Theres a nice big post on Honda-Tech, like 10 pages, started by drunknbass, about his ITB's and theres a huge set of pics on why youre style flows ----, he figured out a way to do it perfect.

Something to look into I guess

I know I'm thinking about finding an aluminum intake to cut up and tig the tb's onto it or at least shorten up the length, shorter runners would be better right?

Re:ITB D series *PIC*

I say you get the ITB's and some of those ZC pistons that bump your compression up to like 12.5:1 and do an all motor d-series build.

I'm building a all motor d16. If you decide not to use them let me know!

I am a turbo guy also, but I think an all motor car could be fun. Wouldn't you like beating all those all motor b-series cars with a sohc? That would be sweet.

it'd be really hard to make power out of an NA D series.

Re:ITB D series *PIC*

A nice cam, those pistons I was talking about, and those ITB's would be a good start. I have actually been looking into doing this myself when I get another honda for a daily so I don't have to put so many miles on my car.

My high compression d is just waiting on finishing my manifold for my 45mm weber carbs.

Somewhere online I saw a d15 with z6 head make 150 whp NA with ITB's, it also had a header and i think a lightened flywheel, he was looking to get a bisi header...it might have been on this site? 150whp....that's like ~170 crank hp..on a d15, i bet it revved pretty good.

I have a set of CBR 929 ITB's just sitting at work and have been toying with the idea of boosting with them, might be kind of cool but you'd have to seal a nice plenum to the ITB's or you'll be bleeding off boost big time.

SunshineSketches 12-20-2004 01:14 AM

Re:ITB D series *PIC*

Then it would be kind of like a nissan skyline's throttle bodies ;D

Before the homemade ITB craze started I was able to get two set for 100 bucks on ebay and now this ---- is retartdly overpriced now. I still want to try this ---- again if I can find a set cheap enough now.

I think he meant sealing all four intakes into one plenum. Although you would have to seal one set of injector holes, whether it be in the throttle bodies or manifold. My brother has made a custom intake manifold and is using gsxr throttle bodies on his ka24e.

SkunT 12-20-2004 03:12 PM

Re:ITB D series *PIC*

lots of people have made there own manifold. its nothing new.
