Issues i need to resolve with my Teg

Hey im new to this forum and lately ive always found information that i needed here on HMT. So for the people that run it...Props to you guys.

Anyways i have a 92 integra RS with a b20b in it and im having a few issues with my car lately. I wanted to resolve these problems before i install the turbo kit i have ready to go.

First issue is a hesitation issue that happens at slight throttle that happens every now and then at any rpm range. It feels like the motor is holding back and a second later i have power. It also happens when i am on part throttle steady cruising then i put press on the gas alittle more suddenly. i just cant pin point what can be the problem. When this hesitation does happen i can hear the muffler sputter and spit. This type of thing happens alittle more often when it is cold out. Any advise would help me out alot thanks.

Second i have an issue with the whole car vibrating under 60kph and i have only vibration in the wheel at 100kph. The 20-60 vibration feels likes its coming from the front of my car. If i cruise slowly to 60 it doesnt happen but when i give just alittle more gas from 20-60 the whole car vibrates hardcore. Can the mounts be crapping out on me or is it something else. i did fill two of the mounts (front tranny and passenger side) with urathane so the other 2 mounts could be the culprit. I just need more opinions before i start dishing out cash to fix it.

here are more info on the car that might or might not help find a solution to either or problem
it might not help but the b20 has 120k on it but the rest of the parts like the alternator, starter, distributer, plugwires, and o2 sensor are all obd1 and come from the stock b18a i had swapped out. i kept the stock tranny but put a 6 puck unsprung clutch in it. I just had the driver side axle replaced since the old one was ripped to ----. the tires on my car have been balanced recently. I have not yet gotten an alignment since i want to get a camber kit first.

Thanks once again in advanced...im desparate to get these issues resolved. I cant stand driving an uncomfortable car.

Re: Issues i need to resolve with my Teg

in terms of hesitating, check the throttle cable... also what engine management are you using?

vibrationwise, the fact that you have filled half of the motor mounts might the problem. Try filling all of them. Did you balance all of your tires? Did you get an alignment? How does the motor sound when its idleing... does it sound funny?

Re: Issues i need to resolve with my Teg

not running any engine management. Stock b18 ecu running. It was hesitating before the swap aswell. I havent gotten an alignment like i said earlier. the motor sounds fine when its idling.

actually at idle the rpms jumps up to maybe 750 for a second then drops below 500rpm and bogs for a second. Fack i have lots of problems haha....please help

in terms of checking the throttle cable...what am i exactly checking for. The throttle cable is not loose. keep the suggestions coming

Re: Issues i need to resolve with my Teg

try to get a chipped ecu. realize that your engine is no longer a 1.8L but is a 2.0L and will require more fuel either way.

Check all the maintenance stuff. Yes check if the throttle cable is loose. Check plugs etc.

Re: Issues i need to resolve with my Teg

throttle cable is tight. i have a chipped p28 but im gonna use it to tune the turbo application. plugs are relatively new. Timing is on. valves have been recently adjusted. i have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and i bumped up the fuel pressure. Fuel should be fine....like i said it did this even with the b18

What did you use from the b18 over to the b20. I say the cap/rotor may be your isse

Re: Issues i need to resolve with my Teg

not throwing any codes at all. Cap and rotor are brand new.

check tps voltage out put at slight throtle bad gas/air if only slight wont through a code

Re: Issues i need to resolve with my Teg

make sure Ig timing and cam timing are correct. using new plugs? new fuel filter?
You said the hesitation was there before the swap. Did you reuse any part from the old motor if so what are they.

levan634 02-16-2006 07:54 PM

Re: Issues i need to resolve with my Teg

reused dizzy, alternator, starter, intake manifold (itr), crower cams, crank pulley. like i said in my first couple posts the plugs are new. i did change the fuel filter like 10000kms ago.
full throttle i have no problems. but when i get off throttle then suddenly get on the gas it hesitates and gets jerky.

when im full throttle through the gears its perfect. ran 15.6 @ 86mph in calgary alberta, Canada. im just afraid after i go boost its gonna be worse.

*the idle problem only showed up after we cracked the head from the block to put arp headstuds and head gasket. so im pretty sure that has to do with timing. i have to check it again.* unless its something worse.

what else?

check the o2 sensors, i know it would probably throw a code, but when i had a bad one it would get jerky.

yeah my o2 sensor went out, and it was really bad for about two hours before it finally went all the way out. it didn't throw a code till it was dead. it ran like ---- and would bog until i ran WOT. at WOT it ran really good though. it idled a little funny and would die on the road unless it was full throttle. so def check that, just buy a new one.

if it was the o2 shouldnt it have already ---- the bed since i have been having this hesitation problem for almost a year now

Run some fuel injection cleaner through it and reset timing.I cant think of alot more.Hmm.Good to see another Canuck on here though.

Re: Issues i need to resolve with my Teg

my best bet would be the 02 sensor. this ---- was going on with my car for about 4 months, felt like ---- when cruising on the highway. i would be cruising and all of a sudden my car would kinda hesitate and i would press the gas to the flooor and 5 seconds later it would jump from realizing it was at WOT.

my other geuss would be the tps. my car kinda jerks somtimes as if im in the high rpms and completly let of the throttle. but im usually at part throttle when this haoppen :l :S. and every once ina while ill get the good ol 7 flashes from the check engine

you say your not throwing codes, but does your cluster even have a check engline bulb in there?????? i would double check

Re: Issues i need to resolve with my Teg

i think im gonna replace my o2.....and for the tps i would like to replace it...but on my throttle body you cant just take the tps off....you need to get a whole new throttle body...its gay...does anyone know how to get round this

drill the rivet out and use regular bolts to put it back. adjust the TPS voltage first.

Re: Issues i need to resolve with my Teg

awesome thanks....by drilling the rivet do i just use a bit that fits and drill till it comes loose?

wow lots of feedback from this site....its great...Fukc honda-tech bunch of cocky ricer biatches

Thanks everyone

yeah it sucks when mine was boosted too because since i was running a conservative tune and the car couldn't figure out the a/f ratio, it was dumping ---- loads of fuel in, and caused misfired on all 4 cylinders :-X once it's in open loop mode though, it was good.

---- i guess i should find a new o2 sensor.....what is the cheapest place....local part store for a bosch one?

get one of those universal one from pepboys, they are liek 50 to 70 dollars. it doesn`t come with the connector and u will have to spice the wires.

i have had this problem in my teg, one time it was an o2 sensor on its way on a permanet vacation, and then it started doing it again, and it wasnt the o2, but get this it was the fuel filter, how old is yours?

levan634 02-18-2006 07:24 PM

Re: Issues i need to resolve with my Teg

my fuel filter isnt that old...maybe 2 years.....---- i thats old...hahah

hey djfob arent you on beyond???....im from calgary ab too....

my name on beyond is IntegraG2...pm me....
how old is the o2 you are talkin about????

Hey man, if you resolve your idle issues let me know, I have similar issues in my G2 with an odb2 swap like yours, not caused by vaccum leak/ivac/fitv or whatever the ----. Real odd, and only when warm.

ok i got news.......so yesterday my car was throwing a CEL....i jump the ecu and it threw code 5 which is for the map sensor. Can this be the culprit for my weird idle and anything else.....please let me know!?!?!?!?!?

levan634 02-25-2006 11:42 AM

Re: Issues i need to resolve with my Teg

it is only throwing the CEL when i idle.....cause when i restarted the car it didnt throw the CEL until i got to a light and idled for a bit.....

Re: Issues i need to resolve with my Teg

ur on the right track. the main things i would check would be the tps, and 02 sensors. o2's and cause a hesitation when they start to go bad, and still not throw a code, because it still reads, it just reads too slowly and that could cause that hesitation that ur complaining about.

Just had that problem, cel would be off for like 10-15 min, the when i down shifted into 2nd gear to slow down at a light, ect. it would come on, check the ecu and it was throwing my o2 code. switched it the other day, and in the process re ran the wire away from the front end (which makes no sense btw) down across the firewall and strait down the the o2 sensor. Does anyone know why the hell they decided to run the wire "out of the way" doesnt make sense but i made it the way it should have been when the car was designed :6 runs like a champ now
