Intermittent-NO Start problem w/B18A1

Whats up people I had this problem with my 89 hatch for the last 6 months and was wondering if anyone can help me out.

Every time I try to start my car, I turn the key to the crank position and the starter goes CLACK!?!? No start, I keep holding the key there then it starts right up.(no problem)
------sounds wierd, But hey I dont worry about it cause the car runs great. until this happens-------

Go to start my car turn the key and all I hear is the same CLACK!?!!?? but with NO START and I am stranded for like a good 3-8 hours while I am stranded the ecu gives a #8 code----TDC Circuit ???

When I come back 8 hours later it starts up regularly

I think its the distributor/tdc sensor??
I know there are 3 sensors on the B18A1 block which sensor on the block is the TDC SENSOR???
and once I find out which one it is how do i test it???
If anyone can help me on this I would greatly appreciate it

it sounds like your starter relay is crapping up, I'm not sure where it is, but tap it with a hammer or something to get the dust off the connectors. I think that all the crank position sensors are in the distributor, I've never heard of the tdc sensor.

Thanx for the response guys

Turn the key to crank, It clacks, then 3 seconds later the starter spins fine or when it acts up 8 hours later it starts. I tried to tap the starter with a hammer to revive the connections in the solenoid or whatever and it wont start for 8-9 hours and gives the #8 tdc circuit code (sounds like the DIZZY right?)
What do you mean there is no TDC sensor on the block?? how would it get the tdc signal for the dizzy??

P.S. sometimes when I disconnect the battery for a minute or two it starts up but "only sometimes", other times I am stranded.
please help!!!!

The TDC sensor is in the dizzy...i get this code once and a while on my mini-me. But yeah, it does sound like your starter solenoid is crapped out. Either that or the main relay actin up (most 88-91 civics have this prob.). I know this sounds stupid, but next time it does it, trying bangin where the change holder is under the driver's side vent...if it starts, it's the relay. Most likely it's the starter though.

sounds like the contacts inside your starter are shot the clack you hear is probly the starter soliniod poping the drive gear out to the flywheel but with contacts fucked up the starter wont spin

Well, shelled out 175 big ones for a starter with a lifetime warranty and I reset the ecu. When i first started it up there wasnt any wait it was instant. I'll let you know if anything happens.
