does any one know if a intermediate shaft from a 88-91 civic sir b16a , will work for a b18a swap on a 91 civic?

because I have it bolted to the block and my left side cv (91 integra)seems to stick out too far
I can't get my ball joint back in
even with both sides of the cv all the way compressed it still sticks out way too far
the cv is 23.5" long I went to napa and checked two other shafts(cct part#8001) they were both the same length
what could be up?

 

what trans did that int. shaft come from? and what trans are u using now.
