Integra Transmission
I'm considering buying an Integra with a 1.6 Auto transmission engine, I'm not sure what model engine it has but I have a few questions if anyone can help:
What would i need to convert to a manual tranny? Could i swap in a manual DOHC ZC from an OBDO CRX without too much trouble and run it for OBD1 bearing in mind that we dont have strict emissions laws over here in the UK? I'm just after some ideas as i want the car but i dont want an auto tranny |
Re:Integra Transmission
The engine is a d16a1 or maybe something different like a a8 or a9 since you are in the uk. The 2g ZC from the obd0 crxsi/civic has a different bell housing, so you couldnt bolt it in, and it has a different driverside motor mount on the block. I say keep the stock engine in, and just try to find a manual tranny 88-89. You will need shift linkage, pedal assy, and a ecu.
assuming your looking at a 88-89 integra because I know they had sohc zc's in 2g integras in jdm/uk land. |
Re:Integra Transmission
Sorry i completely left out any important details
The integra i'm looking at is a 1994 JDM 1.6 auto, the guy is hopefully going to tell me what the engine number is so i know what model engine it is. I have a few ideas they go something like this: 1. swap in one of my spare D16a9 CRX engine end gearboxes and convert it to support OBD1 2. swap in a D16z6 lump and ECU from a civic in the local breakers 3. keep the original engine and swap the 'box with another unit Would i be able to use the linkage and pedal assy from a civic? any links to any sites where i could look this up would be a great help as i am hard pushed to find spare time at the minute, hence all the questions cheers |
Re:Integra Transmission
all your questions are going to depend on what motor is in that car. you NEED to find that out before any of us can give you a solid answer. if is a B series motor then your screwed, you need to get a b series tranny. if its a D then what you thinking of might work. but remember b goes with b series and d stays with d's.

Re:Integra Transmission
you will also need a clutch, flywheel. and master cylinder. i am in the process of converting my 94 ex from auto to manual.

Re:Integra Transmission
What engine have you got?
how difficult is it so far? master cylinder for clutch? |
Re:Integra Transmission
i am currently in the process of converting and re-installing my b18b1w/gsr tranny. gsr shift linkage, stock clutch, stock flywheel. i am going to work in Colorado to work so i will have to let my friend finish here in shitty ole Louisiana.

Re:Integra Transmission
I think its a D series, one of very few 3rd gen integra's to have a d series, if so i think it will make my job a little easier as i will have a cable clutch

Re:Integra Transmission
You have no idea how long i've waited to hear that!!!!!!
I thought i was wrong and i cant find many references to it when i search, but that thing is stock i've seen quite a few of them for sale now, so, back to the original question. How hard do you think it will be to swap in a manual tranny, and which one can i use? or even how about swapping in a D16a9 euro CRX engine into the fucker? |
Re:Integra Transmission
I've seen one of those before in a junkyard in ireland, I was so shocked to see a single cam/carb in a ------- DC2! I beleive it was a ZC single cam too? Anyways if you want this car, and you want to put a 5speed transmission in, your best bet would be putting in a 92-95 Civic Hydro tranny in, The mounts are the same, bolt pattern on the engine is the same. You will need to use the civic axles. Use a clutch pedal assy & shift linkage from another DC2 integra w/ a 5speed.
Its just funny for us to see this, because its like your doing a backwards swap, lol.. Good luck! Jeff |
Re:Integra Transmission
could i not use the clutch pedal assy and shift linkage from the civic as well?

Re:Integra Transmission
Pretty sure it wont work, but I could be wrong.
