Intake manifolds: b18a vs b16a.... updates on build motor
I have an oppertunity to get one of each off a local guy for $30, both stock manifolds not modified..... i was wondering what modifications need to eb made to run the b16 manifold on the b18a? or if there would be any advantage at all, or if i can make soem crazy high flow contraption out of both of them

Re: Intake manifolds: b18a vs b16a
B18 manifold sucks period. and you cant use a B16 Intake manifold on a B18 or the other way around.

Re: Intake manifolds: b18a vs b16a
ynot redrill the flange?
|
Re: Intake manifolds: b18a vs b16a
yes i think im gonna re drill teh flange and run teh b16 intake on the b18 head
I'm gonna cut open the plenum of the b16 intake first and polish that bitch and what not, I think im gonna get an adapter made up as well to run a bigger TB whats teh best TB to run on the b16 manifold? |
Re: Intake manifolds: b18a vs b16a
the biggest you can get to fit?

This is where Im not given away free knowledge :)

Re: Intake manifolds: b18a vs b16a
doesnt anyone have anybody knowledge on this? or maybe someone can reassure me that a b16 intake manifold will flow better? if so where will the gains be made? i plan having a semi built b18a
im going to: have head planed dual valve springs b18b camshafts, or aftermarket if good price port and polish job valve regrinded block decked crankshaft polished cylinders honed all new gaskets, bearings and seals ARP head bolts b16a1 intake manifold ported and modified as much as humanally possible hondata style intake manifold gasket 70mm TB whats peoples opinion on the build, I'm shooting for 150ho at the wheels before i even slap the turbo on, 230-250hp with the holset hy35 turbo opinions, ideas? this is my first motor im doing up, any input is valued |
Re: Intake manifolds: b18a vs b16a
once again try it and experiment.
Only took me years to figure out what works etc and make a livin at it now good luck Oh and just becuase you make something bigger doesnt mean anything in terms of flow :) |

Re: Intake manifolds: b18a vs b16a.... updates on build motor
Ill give you this people back in the day put itr manifolds on b18b/a heads but that was due to lack of manifold support this was back in like 96-99
The only guy who actually was a known racer with that set up was lucky mike the dpr integra. I think it finally ran low 12's all motor back in the late 90's |
Re: Intake manifolds: b18a vs b16a.... updates on build motor
thanks.... I think i will give it a shot, hell it probably wont take power away so theres no harm in trying it
I have a question about your TB's actually as well, when you do the boring and porting and what not to the TB's you start with a completely stock unit right? what does with or without core mean?....... nm found it on your site, weird place for the definition though |
Re: Intake manifolds: b18a vs b16a.... updates on build motor
core means you send one in
yes they are stock units |
