Installed a act pressure plate, now it won't go in gear!

It's a hydro d series tranny. I have bleed the master and the slave cylinder. I have checked for leaks and found none...I bought the pressure plate used. when my car is on you have to shove it hard in first or any other gear. When i had my stock setup, everything worked fine. It still drive's and shifts good when your moving..I'm pissed, confused, about to set it on fire!!!!By the way its a honda...Any thoughts??

did you put tranny fluid back in? did you put the all the rubber bushings back in the shift linkage? Did you relube the throwout bearing?

The motor was out when i put the pressure plate on,so no leakage from the tranny.I installed the ex tranny about 3 months ago. Another thing is when it is in gear, it will disengage but when you let off the clutch about 2 inch's off the floor, it engages. With my other setup, you would have about 4-5 inchs before it engages the clutch.

Does it goes in smoothely when the engine is OFF?

AFAIK all ACT pressure plate has a very low engagement point (about 2 inches off the floor), my exterm PP would completly engage withinh like 1.5 to 2 inch off the floor and u don`t have too much to "ride" on,

Make sure you did install the clutch disk the correct way (hub side facing tranny). and you did center the disk.

also check your shift linkage , make sure it is not blinding with the heatshield, craw underneth and check because it HAPPENS A LOT, i am pretty sure thats your problem if the symptom appers with the engine both on and off.

When the engine is off, it goes through the gears fine. Thats's whats so crazy..I hate turning my car off just to put it in reverse or first..You see once i'm rolling it will go in gear fine.I can roll up to a stop light and it will disengage when i press the clutch, it just won't let me put it in gear when it's idleing..

so it is not completly disengaging. rip out the rubber boot covering the shift fork, have someone step on the clutch pedal and make sure it`s not blinding and traveling as much as it should. other then that it could be 1) clutch disk is in backward 2)ur pedal needs to be adjust which i highly doubt. 3)master/slave cylinder not working.

What happen if you start in second gear. or shift in the different gear then put it back to first, see if it makes any different.
