im tired if smelling like exhaust all the time
well here the deal. i have a 91 crx with an ls swap no exhaust leaks to my knowledge. theres no sut anywhere and i cant hear any. everytime i get out of this damn thing i stink like hell. when i get on it real hard it gets worse and sometimes just randomly it will start to smell inside the car. right now im running a screen on the intake, no valve cover hose to the intake pipe and straight out of the black box on the back. could the pcv ---- be causing all of this because its starting to get slightly old.

yea yea its a full DC sports exhaust for now. my other car did the same thing when it was turbod and i had the same pcv set up. also the canister is removed under the hood and thats about it that i can think of that will cause anything? i was thinking about puting a 90* on the black box and run the line off the valve cover and it into a T down towards the ground...?

you run rich. my friends rustang (seriously built, will light em up on a hard 3rd gear downshift), but he gets 12mpg at all times with a 450hp motor, and always runs rich. even doing 85-90 on the way to summit racing/phantom fireworks, we all reaked like raw exhaust. something about running rich makes things smell like that, if you don't have tailpipes PAST the rear bumper, where they can't get sucked back in.

yea yea it goes all the way out the back its about flush with the bottom lip on the bumper. im not running extremely rich untill i get on it hard. crusing im at about 14.5-14.9 depending on temp. when i lay into it it comes down to around 10.9. right now im running a stock ls with some 450s and a 10 second base map so thats probably got something to do with it. i need to get my data logging working so i can try to kill some of the fuel out of it.

Who welded your exhaust? I took a car I had to a local shop a for a test pipe. When I removed it for a sidemount scotty 3" open dp, I noticed a nice (inch) sized gap between the pipes.. Where the weld should have been.. Yeah I was always smelling exhaust.

if you smell like exhaust its getting inside the car. double check that it could not really be anything else. your thinking too hard. smell like exhaust inside car = exhaust not doing its job. bottom line.

i had the same problem. shitty base map and the exhaust that ended right before the rear lca. after putting the rest of the exhaust it went away, but still stank just not as bad. after i tuned it, the smell went away. now, its actually a pleasure to drive it again.
