Default I have a lip in my cylinders, question about doing a hone.

I have a d16z6, i'm going to get the motor cylinders honed tomorrow. This is my first engine build and I feel an edge where the old pistons landed at the top of the cylinders. Since i'm going lower compression i figured i could just have it honed to remove the glaze and the lip wouldnt matter since the new pistons will not reach that high in the cylinder.

Am I right or wrong? opinions?

Nick

As long as the new pistons have the same or more distance from the top edge of the piston to the top ring it should be fine.

i'd hone if your putting in new pistons/rings anyway..its worth the few bucks to get a good seal

I say your right, get it honed and build it.

you'll be fine. besides a fresh hone will help out with this. It happens to every motor just from the top ring stopping it's friction there. You'll be all good
