i feel like a dummy, please help

I'm in central Arkansas and we had some really nice rain today. So much so that when leaving work, I got to drive through a small lake and thanks to the AEM cold air intake that was on the car when I bought it(89 crx si), I now have water in my engine. ;D I am hoping that once I can find someone to help me get it home (towing is going to be quite high I bet)I am hoping that I can take the head off and suck the water out of the chambers and dry it out good enough to get it running without rebuilding. Has anyone ever had experience with this sort of thing? Luckily, I still have my other car which I have been trying to sell (no tags or insurance, though) which I can drive in the meantime. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Thanks. :-[

Did it stop running? I'm assuming it did since you towed it? Ouch....good luck to you. Did it still crank over or did it come to a sudden stop? :-\

more than likely your fucked. The heads usually warp right away when you do that. Luckily you didn't throw a rod through the block like we did in my friends Jeep.

it did stop running, I did not get it towed. I tried to crank it but no good. Would it help to pull the plugs and try to crank it?

if it's hydrolocked, can it not be rebuilt?

if it is you are better off being really nice to stealthmode and asking him to give you his spare A^ for the price of shipping. (he probably would) it could be rebuilt yes, but depending on the severity of the damage it mightnot be worth it unless you are lookingto go with aftermarket internals. ---- for all we know right now there could be a rod sticking through your block. get it home, asess the damage anddecide whether it wouldbe better to try and rebuild it or try and get a new one.

you are most likely screwed, just get a new motor and use that one as something to help you learn, and then throw it away...

This happened to me before. I took out the plugs and tried to start it and you could see the water skirt out, after a few tries i put everything back together and had no problems after that. that was on my 97 EX. Try it!!!!

Thanks, I pulled the plugs while on lunch break and it looks like only one cylinder got water in it. I'll try that, can't hurt at this point.

I have a D15b2 and a D16a6. The A6 is missing two valves and a cam. The D15b2 is a complete longblock with a headgasket problem arrising. Both blocks should be fine to get you up and going. (*As honestly as I can tell you) My friends coming to pick one up tonight, (not sure which one) but you can have the one he doesn't decide to pick up. Pay shipping and it's yours.

* I didn't pull these motors, but I feel confident that either one will get you going. Bognak or 88Turbocrx can tell you more, as they are the ones that pulled these motors. But since I picked them up for free, they didn't have any reason to lie to me to make the sale, and this is what they told me. Good luck.

Thanks stealthmode. I blew the water out of the motor which was just in cylinder 1. I got it to start but there is a rod rattling around pretty good. Let me know which block is left behind and about what it would cost to ship to 72076. Thanks again.

Ok, I figure it out in the next day or so and let you know. If you get impatient or you needed it sooner, just pm me and tell me to hurry the ---- up. :D

that really sucks for you man, when the water got in your rod bent, but at least it runs for you. I had a bitch of a time with my b16a after I overheated it, so I know what it's like to have a fucked up car.
