Re:hybrid brakes

Why don't you also document the 90-91 EX front knuckle conversion for larger rotors..

Re:hybrid brakes

integra knuckles on a civic/crx will throw off the suspension geometry, you need 90-91 EX knuckles they are the same size as the teg's i believe...

BoostedBSeries 03-01-2003 10:55 AM

Re:hybrid brakes

wait, what? why? why do they? if they are the same size, then why do they throw it off? please let me know asap i might be getting these this week. and what does it throw off? i was told they would be fine.

Brett

Re:hybrid brakes

I think they will bolt up fine, but they sit at a funny angle compared to the 88-91's Plus they are taller. thus throwing off the geometry of the suspension.. I have read that as well.

Yes, I will be doing the 90-91 ex upgrade... no worries, just need parts! :)

Re:hybrid brakes

hey got a question bout new knuckles for the front...i got a 91 rex hf...yes hf....but i wanna get bigger brakes for the front and since im in the process of an ls swap i was told that i have to get the SI or DX hubs cause my axles wont fit into the HF hubs....so can i use any certain type of Integra Hubs in place of getting the SI or DX ??? cause i would rather use some integra hubs if i can without jacking things up or something...give me something people!!!

HMT-Admin 03-01-2003 04:57 PM

Re:hybrid brakes

thats what we are talking about.. if you use the integra knuckle or even the newer civic ones, it will throw the suspension geometery off, they are too tall. That is why everyone does the 90-91 EX upgrade, they have larger brakes, and will work correctly.

In your case, you might just want to stick with the DX/SI Knuckle swap.

88crxSi 03-02-2003 12:18 PM

Re:hybrid brakes

ya u dont really need HUGE brakes on a car unless u auto-X. Stick with Si DX hubs and if u really want larger brakes get larger rotors and a caliper relocation braket. Thats all.

Re:hybrid brakes

----!!!! that just threw my entire ------- swap off!!! i dont wanna go out and buy dx/si hubs for my HF. everything rested on that ------- brake swap. that really pisses me off now. well now it seems like im not gonna be going with the LS motor after all. its just to expensive for my budget right now. anyone know where i can get a full ZC swap for cheap now? and will ZC axles fit in the hf hubs? and if i dont get zc axles, what axles work with the ZC motor in a CRX? thanks guys

Brett

HMT-Admin 03-02-2003 10:01 PM

Re:hybrid brakes

Nope, ZC axles use integra axles as well.. So you are going to have to upgrade the knuckle's reguardless

Unless you put the ZC in, use the SI/DX tranny, and use the HF axles.. then you will be fine.

HF axles with HF hubs..

Hf axles can work with hf/dx/si tranny but not ZC

Re:hybrid brakes

thanks alot jeff, that actually cleared quite a bit up for me. so if i use dx/si hubs i will be able to use the integra axles with them?

absolutely! I run 94 Integra GSR axles in my 89si everyday...

The DX/SI knuckles are the exact same btw...

Re:hybrid brakes

da integra hubs will work and i was planning on it till i found out they change your caster angle 10 degrees and make your steering heavy without power.
raxels makes axels for 4th gen civic/crx hybrid for $180

HMT-Admin 03-04-2003 01:49 AM

Re:hybrid brakes

you dont need custom axles unless you are using a JDM intermediate shaft.. stock integra axles work just fine.

read hasports site..

Re:hybrid brakes

Jeff, ,if you want I can do a write up for my 88Si for the rear disk brake swap that way we can have two different experiences just incase we encounter problems..

also, what parts are you using?? Im using the following,

90 CRX Si trailing arms, rotor, caliper, ebrake cables.

I also have the lower control arms which I might change to make shock changes easier. :)

HMT-Admin 03-04-2003 11:31 AM

Re:hybrid brakes

yup, I have the exact same setup, but its going in a 89 si.. should be similar of a swap.
