HUGE power loss, oil light. Whats goin on

So 2 weeks ago I thought I fucked up my tranny as it was making some harsh noises and I had like no power
Well today I found a thread

http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1017751

Where the guy had the same symptons as me, huge loss of power, falls on its face around 4grand form the little power it has, oil light flickers on and off when the car is fully warmed up.

I thought it was my tranny but apparently not, I cant tell if the trannies making any noise any more because my exhaust was ripped off from a manhole and Im just running a cherry bomb muffler that I had as a resonator.

I really need some advise as to what the ---- is going on. Figured this would be the place to ask

oil and filter changed 100 miles ago wheh I flushed the engine
Oil light has been on since I thought I had the tranny problems though

Like if Im tring to get on it a little bit, its just really dam slow to even get to 3500, falls on its face at 3500, shift into 4th and its like drones out, like what I hear a slipping clutch would be like (my clutch is fine) and takes a sec for the power to kick back in

Would no oil pressure cause me to lose all power?

Im running synthetic oil right now, might try some thick ---- oil tomorrow and see if I can bump the pressure

Thanks guys, Ill throw any more info at you that is needed

Sohc zc non vtec

Thanks

Yes. If your driving your car with the oil light on your motor is fucked :-X Probably the best thing for you to do is take your motor apart and see what is wrong with it.

Re:HUGE power loss, oil light. Whats goin on

well its my daily driver so Im not tearing it apart to find out whats wrong nor am I dumping more than $300 into in

I was planning to drop in my built A6 in the summer (4 months) and this was hopefully going to make it up until then

Looks like Im just gonna throw in some thick oil to bump up the pressure a bit, what kind of oil would work? Never knew what the numbers meant as far as viscosity or anything. Whats a good thick oil that would be good for dd...

Gonna have to piece this motor together really ------ fast now for sure

You drive with the oil light on, you're done. You can go through the run around of making it work, but it's hopeless. :-\

Re:HUGE power loss, oil light. Whats goin on

ya I think I might just buy some thick oil and hope it last for the few months I need it, no more getting on it, itll be crazy snow anyways so that wont be a problem.

What type/number/weight of oil would be best

---- I gotta throw this motor together asap now

Re:HUGE power loss, oil light. Whats goin on

Ya I think its just my clearances guys, Im just going to be running some 5W30 or 10W 30 thick motor oil, I think thats thick? And hope I can raise the compression or maybe the oil light is form a bad sensor and my tranny really is bad,
Anyways, I think I can make it for the winter

Say 7-8miles round trip to work mon-thurs, Ill just cut it down and no taking it over 3k

Can anyone shed some light on some nice thick motor oil?

Thanks
