How to tell if an auto tranny or tq converter is going out?
I'm going to be doing a tranny swap on a auto EF(just replacing not a auto to manual). I plan on changing both tranny and torque converter just to be on the safe side but would like to know some things to look for. He told me it gets up to about 15mph and then doesn't go any faster but the engine still revs like how a bad clutch would act. I'm getting 400 to do the swap including the price of the tranny and tq conv. which will cost me 100 at the junkyard. To me it just sounds like a bad tq converter. Any suggestions?

well..i've only seen tourque converters go bad when they leak fluid. or the slipines that conect the TC to the tranny are bad. it could also be the transmission. It's tough to say without taking ---- apart
