no it's pretty easy, if you've got some mechanical experience, i'd suggest just doing it, you'll learn alot about your car that way, and be more proud of what you have when you're done.

that's kinda expensive though, he's charging you almmost $1000 for a hydro trans as opposed to a cable.

just assuming from his name, he has a dx coupe, which would a obd1 hydro tranny anyways. its a bitch to convert from hydro to cable. plus if he went obd0 he wouldnt get that cool knock sensor

no you still have a knock sensor on every b-series block. If your car was a hydro tranny go with hydro, and if its cable go cable. If you put a cable in your hydro car then after you buy all the mounts and get a new ECU, replace the OBD 0 dizzy ETC.. it would cost more than jsut getting the correct swap. MAKE SURE THIS IS A COMPLETE SWAP IE axles, int. shaft, all the mounts, and if you have A/C and want to keep it you need to get a del Sol VTEC A/C bracket. the 2nd gen motors have better cams in them anyway than the first gen.

I just think $1000 MORE for a hydro tranny is rediculous, you could probably get the tranny itself for less then $1000 whereas right now he's paying what he would for the motor with a cable tranny + $1000 for the hydro one, but only getting one tranny.

are you sure ??? i don't think they started using knock sensors until 92 (obd1), i could be wrong, but i know i've seen that a few places. but back to the topic, ---- 1k extra dollars for a god damn hydro tranny! i liked my cable tranny better anyways, and he would have to do the conversion :P but no, it's not hard to do the swap yourself, it's intimidating at first, but once you get going, it's cake, i did my first swap in a day, i was scared i wouldn't be able to do it at first, but unless you're really retarded, if you try it, you can do it.

i know for sure they had knock sensors in all b-series vtec blocks....my 90 b16a1 had one, and ive never heard of them not having one.....but ya go ahead and do the swap yourself, its not all that bad, for the most part its plug and play....gl

i am absolutely sure. EVERY VTEC B SERIES HAS A KNOCK SENSOR:)

onyx, you're absolutely wrong. every single b-series had a knock sensor after 92, and every vtec b block had one forever. but the 90-91 b18a knock sensor=no. evidence?:

edit: whoops, I missed that you said "vtec" there.
