How shitty are auto parts store's replacement valves?

I just found an intake valve from my b16a that's tweaked a little. It seems to lap in just fine, but goes into the guide a little tight. I've tried it on every other intake guide and they all feel the same, although the rest of the valves go in smooth as butter. Regardless, I don't trust using it. How bad of a quality are the oem replacement valves from say Napa or Autozone? I've got 2 of Autozone's Beck/Arnley brand valves in my old subaru legacy and they seem to be fine in there, but that motor doesn't rev above 6500. :P

Ive heard from my old domestic building uncles that Napa is about as close to OEM quality as you can get without going to the dealer.

But as far as a valve train goes Id rather pay up at the honda dealer, cant be all that expensive for a valve?

Ehh, dealer wanted 2x what Napa wanted and also said between 2-4 weeks to get one. I'm trying to get a complete stock set from another kid's b16a head he upgraded, but he's jerking me around right now and I need the motor back together asap. As long as it'll handle 8200 rpm without breaking or bending, that's all I care about. :P

Something about not feeling like butter in the guide makes me :7

The problem could cause the guide to break at high rpm's. The cost of b16a heads and the fact they arent that easy to attain anymore makes me say look for some used ones maybe try honda-tech always people unloading them on there since they upgraded to china ones :1

Well this is the thing...it was only that one valve that felt like that. It got a little tighter than the rest sliding into the guide, but once it was in and seated it opened and closed as smooth as the rest of them. After chucking it up in a lathe I found it was the stem that was bent, you could see a slight wobble to the upper-most part of the stem where the rocker's sit against. The rest of the valves are ok, and I checked all the guides as well and they seem fine. Hopefully going to pick the valve up from Napa tomorrow, and then pick up my LS rods from the machine shop while I'm down there.

should always go to the dealer for replacement valves unless your going with upgraded ones..

Well so far it's survived trips to 8500 with no problems. :D If it breaks, oh well...would really give me a reason to ditch these shitty hondas lol.
