how to rewire radiator fan?
 

i have been noticing that lots of Honda's fans will come on or stay on after the car has been shut off.... i want mine to do that. car has been keeping its self warm this summer and this would be great to keep the under hood temps down after shutoff (and keep it from heat soaking as much)...

so anyway how do it do it?

if i remember correctly you go to radio shack and buy some long wire and a switch.

You slice the wire of the positive wire on the fan and connect it to your newly bought wire, run the wire to the cockpit of the car. Mount the switch where you want and connect the wire to one tab. On the other tab connect a wire to some positive wire under the dash. And that should do the trick. Flip it on, the fan is on, flip it off, it'll be off. It should work fine.

Or you could just hook to a positive so it will be on constantly when the car is on.

think you missed something here....i want it to do this automaticly, i want to be able to rape my car hard during these summer months then go into the mall for a couple hours and have the fan turn on and off when its at the proper temps...

oh well then the only thing i could think of at the moment is to get something like a thermostat (like for your a/c at home) and rig it up to that. So when it feels the heat it'll kick in and won't turn off til it's like 80degrees under the hood.

I dunno that's all I can think of right now.

why dont you just invest in a turbo timer and let it stay on for like 5-10mins

power to the fan is switched by the ignition switch, so connect the black/yellow wire on the fan connector to your positive battery terminal through a 15 amp fuse. the ground side is switched by the coolant thermoswitch via a relay. it won't turn on and off depending on underhood temps, but by coolant temp.

without the car running, the water pump will not be turning, and so leaving the radiator fan on when the car is off only cools the water in the radiator. what good is that..
