It is a magnetic dial indicator base.

I am sure there is a, "proper," name for it though.

Where the hell has this article been. I have been trying to find out what the compression distance difference was on the vitaras, and now I know.

i hear these results are altered do to measuring being done inside the block. in fact the vitaras have a -15.3dome cc and 28.3comp hight. dont believe me ? ask fjt. :)
