how the hell does a clutch pdeal break??

i just re installed my engine and trans after replaceing the release bearing and spring. i hooked up the clutch cable got it just about where it needed to be, and then went to check the pedal it felt like the pedal was just dangling in there. looked up to where the cable attaches and the pivot point for the pedal was snapped off. WTF??

how does that happen??

from what i've read, it happens alot when you get a stronger clutch

i have never heard of someone breaking a clutch pedal off... not in a Honda... i have heard of bent ones in VWs, but, yeah...

an exedy organic isnt exactly much stiffer, it is, but not much

i've almost got it out, i'll take some pics when i get done

BTW: asians are not welcome to talk to me, they are rude and simple minded. for some reason they think everyone has small hands and can reach into places WITH TOOLS that an ant would strugle to squeeze into >:(

update: got it out finnaly, looks like it was taken out before and repaired in the same place it broke. to me it looks like it was only tacked back into place thats why it broke again. after some reading on hater-tech it looks like the best option is too put a piece of tubing around the bar and welding it in. the tubing should give it enough strength to hold whatever clutch you throw in there

found this pic over on hater-tech, mine broke in the same place.

supposedly this is common on the 88-89 ED's and the 90-91's are said to be better. i disagree, i have a 91 :-*

My crx has broken 3 act extreme
my civic broke 1
I have seen3 others in person with broken ones

This is common on the 88-91 civic/crx

I have come to the conclusion that the problem is using aftermarket clutch cables aka autozone, kragen etc. they use a steel in the cable that is not giving aka cable wont break but you keep threading down the clutch adjustment and you just keep putting more pull on the pedal assembly.

My final thoughts are buy a new honda one and when they start getting worn replace rather than threading it to the last thread.
