Re:How hard to change Rods?
i dont know about other parts. but to change the rods the pistons have to come out and u need to take the head off.
you have a ring pliers? |
Re:How hard to change Rods?
you need to put the engine on a stand, and disassemble the engine from the bottom up. oil pan, oil gasket, bridge and bearings. not that hard to do. it's putting it back togther and useing the right bearings and right clearances. use plastigauge for the measurements.

Re:How hard to change Rods?
I might just give the motor to a mechanic to do,Cause im doing a swap so its already out of the car. Also i heard "supra pistons " also fit in the d16 bore is it worth putting a set in while the motors apart?Or should i just go a set of brand name forged piston?

Re:How hard to change Rods?
i'd go w/ forged or aftermarket because the wrist pin hole is probably a different diameter then a d16s piston would be. They would probably cost the same anyways.

Re:How hard to change Rods?
u dont need to take the motor out.. it helps with reassembly but not nessecary.
hes right when u upgrade rods most likely the wrist pin wont fit or it will be floating style. if your serious have them balanced also. unless u got a nice shop and knowledge of engines, you could screw it up. also the cylinders should be honed and new rings put on. |
