Re:How to fix sinkroids??<<spelling
99% of the time the syncro's dont go bad, the slider on honda tranny's always go bad, they get a sharp edge and pass the syncro to fast and grind on the gear, been through 3 gsr tranny's because of this (1 being mine and 2 my friend)

Re:How to fix sinkroids??<<spelling
If you need some roids hit hotrex up, he can get cypinate but I like eq its deca for horses, makes you big FAST! and comes in 30mil jugs :P

Re:How to fix sinkroids??<<spelling
sorry for the hijack but i have a qustion as well.
I have a 99' si and evey now and then it grinds into 2nd. Its only when im on it really hard but just shifting into second normally feels a little well, "sandy" for lack of a better term, but its only when its up to temp, when i just crank it, it doesnt do it |
Re:How to fix synchros
i have heard that gm syncro mesh tranny fluid might solve the problem of a slight grind. try it out!!

Re:How to fix synchros
ya, i am looking to get my tranny fixed in my teg. Everytime i get to redline and shift it grinds. Is it that hard to rebuild it yourself? Or should i just be looking for a whole new tranny?
|
Re:How to fix synchros
I AGREE! get the honda tranny fluid...I've known more than a few people that have had shifting issues, and when they change the oil to the honda stuff all of there problems were gone..

Re:How to fix synchros
There is a cheap fix that works damn good. I tried it and WOW my pos ebay tranny that had ------- water in it now shifts like brand spankin new at any rpm. I got this tip from a veteran of the drag racing world. It involves a ton of work but cost next to nothing (your time thats about it) Here goes...
Completely dissasemble your tranny. Purchase new syncro rings and just the rings. You do not need syncros or hubs. Get yourself a small triangle shaped file and have a seat. Start to gently file the rounded edge "tips" of the syncros and hubs. Sure theres a shitload of work going over every tooth but basicaly you reshape them just a tad. Nothing too extreme just to bring back a somewhat point to the grooves. Re-assemble and fill her up with GM syncromesh. Do NOT get the friction modified ----. Trust me on this it works!! |
Re:How to fix synchros

Re: How to fix synchros
kill yourself?
D sync's only go bad after everything else is trashed. |
Re: How to fix synchros
the gm syncro mesh works great but you have to get friction modified

Re: How to fix synchros
GM Synchromesh Friction modified is the one you want. ---- works miracles. Granted it's no fix but it's one mother fucker of a bandaid.

Re: How to fix synchros
checkin the date and I thought pork and polish was back again.

Re: How to fix synchros
I worked at a few gm dealers and syncromesh works great but so does ATF. MM6- the six speed trans in the trans am, camero, and corvett all use Dexron ATF. With the tight clearances in honda trans, maybe some ATF would aid, it would for sure clean up any crap stuck in the syncros and bearings, rings, whatever. Maybe run some ATF for a week then drain it and ad syncromesh. I have a 2000 si and my tranny has those shifting issues, when the bastard was under warranty the mf'ers wouldn't fix the crap even though there was a bullitin on it. I know they have some syncro issues, especially in my si tranny. I think the bullitin said to replace all the ones that grind. Just venting now, sorry!! :6

Re: How to fix synchros
Also, if you think going into a standard trans is easy and repairng, good luck, make sure you keep an eye on which way the syncros go back, shift forks, snap rings, clearences, this isn't an everyday joe job, its time consuming and if you don't have the tools, patients and some skillz, you will be one pissed off puppy when you put that sob back in your car. I would do a automatic over a standard any day of the week!!

Re: How to fix synchros
i can do anything mechanical, i just need to know how, and what tools. im sure its somewhere on the internet, as i havent looked but briefly.

Re: How to fix synchros
ATF in a Honda tranny = death to plastic bearing cages, like Redline MTL does.
turbo dave, I've never failed to provide info on tools needed.........yes it sometimes hurts me as a business getting started. If you can build a motor, Honda manual trannys are a cake wake. |
Re: How to fix synchros
There are plastic caged bearing in the MM6, huh, weird, never seen them get trashed.
|
Re: How to fix synchros
I used to see alot of dissolved plastic cages, ever single one was running Redline MTL.
Since I haven't seen anyone running it lately, alost less bearing issues :) Now to kick Autozone's ass, I believe their new puter program suggests 75w90 gear oil!!!!!! |

Re: How to fix synchros
lawsuit already started against an Advance Auto.......
Guy walked in and asked for fluid and filter for a automatic Honda, they sold him three quarts of ATF and the filter, printed off insturctions on how to change it. he stopped after not being able to get the center section off the tranny. |

Re: How to fix synchros
when they argue, take the keyboard away and look up your owns parts, point to the part number you want.
Works at my local Honda, I had my full order entered, knew what warehouses the parts were coming from......and the parts manager walks by......"Hey Clint, this is the self serve line right?" BTW jago, I'm quite sober tonight, but the shakes SUCK! |
Re: How to fix synchros
my third gear has grinded for 3-4 years and my car doesnt like to go into fourth unless im mashing on it ... my tranny loves me
|
