how do you reset the timing on a D series motor??????

alright i changed my water pump and my timng belt, and everything went back on my car, started and sounded kinda funny but was just guesssing that its just the sound of the new belt getting broken in, then drove it to McD's and had no power what so ever untill about 4k rpm and by then my turbo was wailin away at my motor, so, how do you reset the timing of a d series motor for a honda"????

I feel sorry for you :3 :3

if you replace the timing belt and make sure the sprockets line up at the timing marks, and you do not move them at all, it should be an in and out deal, but if you moved them, it could not be pretty, stop driving it and check.

you could have made some damage to the valves and or pistons.

But it is the wrong section

ALWAYS check your timing by hand when you remove the belt. You can do this my rotating the crank counter-clockwise with a wrench.

When the crank pulley is lined up, the white line should line up with the arrows on your timing belt cover.

Then, the cam gear should be in the "UP" position and there's a pointer around 7 0'clock that should line up with an arrow on your timing belt cover.

If it's not, you gotta fix it. O0

Hopefully you didnt ---- anything up :-\

the cam gear says up and has 2 marks on it that should align parrarel to yout block(not the position of your engine contrary to the ground) the third mark should align with the arrow on the blastic inner timing cover. this sets your cam.

for the crank there is marks on the pulley and block but you can never see them since its all ------- gunked up anyway, so take a nice long piece of stick/antenna/whatever and take out spark plug #1(the one that comes first after your timing belt) and put the stick in the hole, turn your crank untill the stick is all the way up, once it starts coming down you went too far, this sets cyl #1 at TDC(top dead center) now put your timing belt on, set your tensioner tighten the tensioner bolt back up according to the manual and youre good to go. oh, dont forget to put your spark plug back in.

Good luck and pray your timing wasnt too messed up, oh and stop eating mcdonals that ---- is not good for you.

Your factory Helms manual (every DIY turbo guy or gal should have one), will tell you how to do this and even provide pictures.

If you don't have one of these must have manuals, then you can use one of the pirated electronic versions, lovingly provided in our Hybrid/Tech forum by our very own users.

There should be no problem if you left the sprockets and the dizzy as they were. If you moved them, then go align them properly as dscribed in any manual. Then get a timing light and check it that way if you moved the distributor at all.
