werd. Which also sucks b/c it makes it just a little less cheap to use stockers. :P

Same thing when building a SBC currently. The rods are in good shape, but it is just another chunk of money and driving too and from the shop to use them versus after-markets delivered to my door.

gay... im just gonna bring them to the shop and have them bore the wristpin hole so it will be a floating pin....

You're lucky...I took a set of LS rods and pr3 pistons to have them put together for a little n/a ls/vtec build. Guy at the shop told me there was no garrentee that he wouldn't break the pistons when pressing the pins in, but said he hasn't broken one in almost 3 years now...guess what he broke :7 I used to swap d-series pistons around in my garage with a hydraulic press and a torch to warm 'em up...never once did I break a piston. :P

whe i was watching vid of intertune tv about project B16 200 WHP..it show how to install pistons to the rods..guy that install them..heat a little rods and after that wrist pin fit with piston very easy so im not sure if it's very safe and good to heat rods...ive read about to heat suff for to get they hardest on my book about rebuilding.. and it says its not recommen to do that really..

Bake the rods and freeze the pins.

You can heat the small end with a torch, but don't get carried away.

That's pretty much how I used to do it...just warm up the rod at the small end a bit and leave the piston cold as possible...they used to slide right out with very little effort.
