how do you get the old head gasket of the block ?
 
so i need to get the old left over gunky ---- of the block what did you guys use ive tryed scraping it off and light sand paper and nothing seems to be working to great lmk thanks

They make these scuff pads that look like a little disk of scotch brite that you can chuck up into a drill. Forget what they're called...

any gasket resurfacing kit will work with either power or air tools needed to fit the bits. Or a mill :)

use an angle grinder and some elbow grease. (thats my best al gore impersonation)

I bought some gasket remover spray at napa and got some of those 3m abrasive pads. They work beautifully.

flip the block upside down and drag it with your car for 1 block on a smooth road

i used gasket remover spray and other cleaners i found layin around, and a plastic scraper/3m pad. didnt work that fast but it worked.

my friend used engine brite on his and it cleaned the pistons tops all good too he said , im not sure how safe this is but i might try it next time.

use MLS headgaskets and you wont have that problem

i would have used a mls gasket if i would have built this car from the factory but i didn't . so theres no way in hell that is going to work :S

i just used a pneumatic die grinder with a buffer pad, worked fine for me

ic, mine came off no problem, any of the black coating that was still on scraped off easily with a fingernail.
