How to bleed clutch?

Just replaced the clutch on my d16z6 and when I took off my slave cylinder out of the fork it pulled the ball out, basically the same as pushing my clutch in with my slave cylinder off, so now my clutch has no pressure when I push the clutch in and it doesn't pop back out. I tired bleeding the slave cylinder a few times but didn't feel any difference. What I did to bleed it was loosen the bleeder nut and the push in the clutch and hold it in, then tighten the bleeder nut back up, but no difference after two or three times. any help?

I've never bled a clutch, but I'd guess it's similar to bleeding brakes. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Pump your clutch all the way down and up a few times, then hold it to the floor while someone cracks the bleeder and lets some air out. Repeat until you have pressure.

thats what my dad and I did, but no differnce after three times, no pressure at all and the clutch doesn't pop back up by its self.

keeping the reservoir full right?

any leaks, like blown master or slave cylinder seals?

well when I took out my slave cylinder I acedently pulled out the litlle ball on the end of it when I took it out of the fork that holds the throw out bearing., not off, just pulled it out. which would be like pushing in the clutch with out the slave cylinder on I think.

Just make sure your clutch fluid reservoir is full, and after every couple times you crack the bleeder, top it off to make sure it doesn't get empty, or you'll have to start all over again. Can you hear air come out when you crack the bleeder open?

i had to do this on my 93 accord. you just have to do it like you would the brakes but it takes like 5 times longer. it honestly took us like and hour of pumping to get the damn thing back to normal.

Take the cap off the master, open the bleeder and just wait, it will run out buy itself, keep the resiovior full and let it run out for a bit then pump and bleed ;)

Re: How to bleed clutch?

i did this when i did my swap a few months ago..

keep the reservoir full at all times when doing this. put a hose over the bleeder nipple and the other end in a thing of brake fluid(hydraulic fluid). loosen the bleeder screw a lil and push the clutch pedal down. tighten bleeder screw. lift pedal back up off the floor. open bleeder screw, push clutch to floor. close bleeder. pick pedal up off the floor. repeat. it took somewhere between 5 and 10 times before i began to build pressure in the clutch.

here's a gangster trick. if you fill the hose with fluid and then connect to the bleeder and the other end submerged in fluid, then you shouldnt have to tighten the bleeder screw between clutch depressions. (so long as its not sucking back in the air bubbles its blowing out).

pump the bitch 10 times and hold it on the floor. release the bleeder screw and tight it back up. and repeat over and over till you have it where you like it. simple ---- man. maybe you fucked up your slave

If there is fluid in it and you do what has been said, pressure should come back. Just pump it a lot after the bleeder is shut even if you have to pull it off the floor by hand. It should come back.

Make sure that the slave cylinder ball thingy is lined up with the fork. I had the same problem and what happened was that the ball would just push past the fork and i wouldnt get any pressure.

I use a mityvac, way easier and you only need one person to do it. took like 5 minutes...
