Honda V6 engines (is it worth the effort)
hi,
I can get my hands on some dirty cheap honda V6 engines. I believe 2x 2.5 liter V6 and 1 or 2x 3.2L V6. All come from a euro honda legend. The engines itself don't produce decent power but have they got potential to become a massive powerhouse ?
How much HP would be possible with stock internals ? anyone a idea ?
Im going to build a trackday car....im thinking of a very light car with a powerfull engine....not too expensive. I can get my hands on those V6 engines for a few bucks...thats why im intrested in the potential.

well thats no fun :P . We were planning to build a 100% trackcar. No compromise for comfort etc. We were thinking of a Hayabusa engine on a very light car (its just that Hayabusa engines are hard to find and VERY $$$. so we looked a bit furter...like a FZR 1000 engine. All light weigth engines with quite some power, nice combination with a very light car.
We also thought of engines like a B18C or so...but thats all way over buget. We can get these V6 engines for dirty cheap...maybe if we can get massive power out of it....it could be fun.
The car will be something like the ariel atom, westfield XTR etc etc. Light, powerfull, fast !
oh and btw...put it back in a legend and turbo it...well thats my question...what can it handle ? its it worth the effort or is it just crap.

no i will not buy a existing car..thats one thing thats for sure. Im a mechanical engineer (or at least in 6 months...just have to forfill my graduation project at the ford test centre in belgium in these 6 months). So yea...its my passion to constuct a race chassis, and probably test it on the ford test track. (too bad honda doen't have a testrack nearby)

my suggestion (for a 100% track car) would be to get a pos crx that doesn't run and put a jdm k20a type r in it. but then you're lookin at 5 g's for the motor, about 800 for the mounts and linkage, another 400 for custom axles not to mention the hondata k-pro ecu that's like, i dunno, 500 bucks, plus all the wiring and ----. i dunno the EXACT prices, but its ------ expensive.
