the dryer ---- isnt the best because its ribbed...ive used exhaust pipe...works great and its cheap

The ribs will disrupt the air flow slightly. You won't get a nice smooth flow, which doesn't mean it won't work. It'll just be alittle less efficient and give you slightly less hp and probably sound like ----. But hey, use what you want, "it's your car".

Re:home made cold air intake?

I made my own CAI out of my stock EX intake pipe and a cheap 3in aftermarket pipe i already had on the car. I hooked up the stock pipe to the throttle... then the aftermarket pipe to the stock one... cut the aluminum intake in half and rotated it so it would be aiming down through the hole on the right fender hooked up the filter... and voila.... intant CAI...

My B16 sported PVC till I installed the turbo.
Cost like $10. Routed into where the resonator used to be. :)
Looked ghetto, but got the job done.
Hell, if you painted it, it wouldnt look half bad.

Re:home made cold air intake?

I use to make tons of those things for the rex. It's best to use 2.5 inch mandrel pipe (from summit) for the d16a6 and ZC motor. B16 and larger, I would go with 3". But anyway, I was the man at making these things. It was OEM quality, and the filter sat in the location of the factory resonator box. I cut that plastic peice out on the front bumper too, so you could see it + push cold air in. It also allowed me to keep the battery in stock location. This was acomplished by putting a rubber coupling where the pipe came near the positive (+) terminal, protecting from a fire.
