HMT huddle time

ok hears the deal i need more traction on my car and i foun d an awesome deal for some ADR Ricochet Wheels and Tires, i know they sound more generic than my grandmas colin but they are only $500 bones, what do you think, no i dont know what kind of tires they are but do you think they will give me the traction i need?????

Re:HMT huddle time

Not if they are cheap tires.I went cheap on my rim/tire combo and got some Ventus made by Hancook.THEY SUCK.Its real easy to break them loose while cornerring. If you want traction get some Yokahamas or Nitto drag radials or something other than cheap tires.

Re:HMT huddle time

wont the size make up for that those? they are 17x7

Re:HMT huddle time

i meant...wont the sheer size of the tires make up for the shitty quality of tire, they cant be that bad can they?

Re:HMT huddle time

It will help a little but if your car is lowered unless you have camber correction it really wont make a difference.I have 17x7s.I dont have camber correction andI can break them loose really easy and Im not even boosted yet(my rims only weigh 16 pounds..that why also). When Im boosted Ill prob. be able to scratch 4th...lol.If I would do it again I would spend the 200 bucks for some better tires.

my car isent lowered at all, i didnt want to mess with the stock suspension becuase it only makes it worse.

Re:HMT huddle time

not really, stiff is good, but why would you think some unknown brand of tire is going to cure all your traction woes?...you need to go out and buy some good tires if you want good traction

Re:HMT huddle time

i have some kunho ecsta supra tires or whatever they are, arent they good tires?

turboboy 10-08-2003 10:09 PM

Re:HMT huddle time

still just regular street radials, nothing special

Re:HMT huddle time

Kumho Ecsta Supra 712

Re:HMT huddle time

what brand would you recomend?

turboboy 10-08-2003 10:13 PM

Re:HMT huddle time

bfg or nitto drags, anything with a low treadwear rating, a friend of mine had decent results with paradas

Re:HMT huddle time

I really havent seen that bigger rims make a damn bit of diffrence. you need wider rims and stiffer engine mounts to get decent traction.

Re:HMT huddle time

BF Goodrich g-Force T/A Drag Radial ? will this cure my problem you think, ive told people my setup and i know it doesnt seem like alot of power but my tires are out of control , i dont get any grip on 1st gear and im not exagerating when i say im hardley getting any on 2nd gear.

Re:HMT huddle time

who moved this topic?....anyway, id still say to adjust your driving somewhat to get better tracion off the line, but a drag radial would definitely help as well

Re:HMT huddle time

Id take Exsta 712's over regular ass radials any day.
Bang for the buck? The Kum-hoes 712, Azenis, Bridgestone RE730's, BFG KD or KDW.
Piradas are overrated and overpriced. I had the chance to drive them back to back against cheaper BFG's (not the KD or KDW) on a cone course, and they were same, just a little bit better turn-in but same maximum grip.

Re:HMT huddle time

if you already have kumho 712's try them. I have 205/40ZR16's on my crx. they offer decent grip. 220 tread wear. a/a traction. I get wheel hop now if i do a hard launch. (im not boosted)
