HMT Flywheel resurfacing LMAO Check out this Pressure Plate!!

I'm replacing a clutch on my brother in law's Geo Storm this weekend and local machine shops are closed. Does anyone have any tips or what to use to do a flat rate resurface job? Thanks for any help.

air impact and soft rubbery brush thing.

*note* its really more of a HARD plastic that is ever so slightly flexible. Worked on mine...

I have friends that have resurfaces their own flywheels and succeeded but with my luck I refuse to try it. Does the flywheel have any burn or heat marks on it

Not sure yet. I'll know tomorrow when we tear into it.

If it doesn't have any heat marks on it, then you're probably good to go with just giving it a light scuff with some sandpaper.

When we took off the transmission, the casing of the throwout bearing was pushed through the pressure plate. I'd never seen this before... I couldn't believe how much the pp fingers were bent.

Surprisingly, the flywheel looked good. We scuffed it up with some sandpaper and it seems to hold fine. ;)

He lives about 30 minutes from me. It wasn't working so I went over and tightened the cable a bit. We drove it around the parking lot a few times. It was squealing bad when we pushed the clutch in. It finally gave out halfway to my house. He had to get it towed the rest of the way.

that sucks, i hate towing bills. thats why theres a 8' piece of 1.5" schedule 80 pipe with a chain through it for towing.

no gangster clutchless upshifts? i can do that on my honda 5 speed all day long as long as i'm not near redline. gotta love those high mileage synchros ;)
