higher CR = .......

ok i was told by chirs, and a few others not to long ago that with my motor combination, d15b2 block and d16y7 head with a d16y7 headgasket that my compression ratio has risen to an astonishing 10.7 : 1. now with this higher compression ratio i have been seeing some rather high readings coming from my temp gauge if i beat on it pretty good. now i know the car is running perfect, getting easily 250+ out of a tank, even if i beat on it. im in the process of finding an adjustable cam gear to pull out more timing. would pulling more timing help to reduce the amount of heat being generated, or should i look into a better cooling system? i already run a 2 core chevy s10 rad with an high flow fan. and i still manage to get hot. i also believe that i found a small leak coming from my heater hose where the open/close valve is for the heater.

cliff notes-

- higher compression ratio( 10.7 : 1 )
- irregular temp guage readings
- should i upgrade the cooling system again?

lmk nigs.

I had a b7/z6 combo and it never ran hot, even in 100+ beating the hell out of it it would not got hot. Check the ts to see if it is good.

i think im gonna get an after market temp gauge anyways and tap into my upper rad pipe that i have made out of metal... yeah, not so much fun to touch that one....... it runs fine though, but when i beat on it for a consistent 15-30 minutes she likes to show that shes running a little warm but i see no signs of it running hot? weird!?

is there any detonation, what type of fuel are you running? How is playing with the cam timing going to help? Shouldn't you be after ignition timing?

How does it run? Idle and pull fine or is it sluggish or idle funny? I know one of my old minime setups ran hot when timing was off. I don't think it's your cooling system. Hell run PG7 slugs in sohc's all the time and don't have cooling problems and that gives a pretty mean CR.

Turn back the dist a couple degress and see what happens and run only 91

Compression has nothing to do with that.

I ran my b2 with y7 head at 11psi and the thing never overheated. Even on hot track days.

BTW I always thought it was 10.1:1

But ive been wrong before.

she runs and idles like a champ. pulls damn hard for a sohc at that. timing was wtf off before i even recently fixed it and it never did this.

i think there is either a massive amount of air getting into the system or this rad is shot once more. im gonna transfer the plates and insurrance over to my rx7 today so i can get the hatch up on some stands and tear into her and still have a car to drive. i think its about time anyways since the last time i had her up on stands to do any major work to her is when i swapped the motor in almost a year ago. she probably needs some attention. little attention getting bitch >:D
