high compression turbo

what do you guys think about a 10.5:1 compression with a turbo. do you think the added compression is too much.? will the high compression with the turbo help make more horesepower.

It's not like people turbo stock B16's and S2000's... that's ridiculous. I'd give someone 5 cents if they did that.

Re: high compression turbo

People so it all the time. It not good for long pulls or anything. But you can make lot of power on little boost.

Re: high compression turbo

could it be used as a daily driver.? on about 8psi.

what would you guys do to make alot of horsepower a still use it as a daily driver.?
so far:
d16y7
y8 intake manifold
t28 turbo on hf manifold
2.5 " exhaust
fmu and missing link
i knowi need a better fuel managment.( dont know what to do about this. im a noob?)

Sugguestion please.

Re: high compression turbo

Yeah you could drive it everyday if you like. I wouldn't run the FMU since they suck and have carbon build like a mother but yeah as long as its tuned right and everything is good it should be a nice fast car.

I hope you don't think a stock d16y7 has a 10.5:1 c/r. ::) BTW, I ran my b16a (10.4:1 c/r) up until last december at 13 psi no problems...just tuned well, and for long pulls as well.

My friend had a 230 hp b16a and melted a piston racing a 400 hp Starion 3 times up to 120 mph. It was just the edge of the piston about 3/4 of an inch long. Just got way too hot.

What grade of oil was he using? Sounds like an oil problem, like too thin of a grade.

Think about it...120mph is 5th gear land. Full boost+high load=hot enough to melt ---- :1

stick to low boost and give it try let us know

Re: high compression turbo

high comprission=low boost = low no of hp
medium comprision= medium boost= medium no of hp
low comprision = high boost = hi no of hp

also you can make more power with hi comprision ., in case you make great tuning (fuel/timming) and great cooling system

try to use your mind to do these two things then get the more power

Re: high compression turbo

high compresion low boost is similar to low cmopresion high boost.. change tuning generally but if you think about it it's ALMOST the same thing.. you can run with good boost on that compression, like slo_crx1 with him B16.. ive seen alot B16's runing 10 psi stock making very good power with "safe" tuning...even b16s with alot miles on them boosted and runing nice! just with b16s...

10 psi again so far on my stock block 10.4:1 compression b16a :-* Maybe I'll jump the boost again after some dyno time. Tuning is the key for high boost high compression setups...I pull my plugs on a daily basis to check them, and datalog as much as I can.

i don't see a problem running 8 psi on that compression daily as long as you have better engine management. but as for most turbo cars your really not supposed tp do 5th gear pulls anyways for that exact reason :1

when you low the comprision that mean you loose power

so some ppl say why loose this pistons power., and tune for the hi comp.
and note tune for hi comp is differant for low comprission
