high compression mini me?????
i have a high compression d16a6, i want vtec, and i can get a y8 head, with my domed pistons i dont know if i will have sufficient valve clearance. does any one know off hand if this insanity will work? if it does this will probably add 20 - 30 horsepower. any input is appreciated.
thanks |
Re:high compression mini me?????
Well, what is your compression right now?
|
Re:high compression mini me?????
11.5:1 is my compression. like i said.

Re:high compression mini me?????
i have a friend with the same set up..his d16y8 is milled also...20-30 horsepower from a mini-me...maybe 10 horses.

Re:high compression mini me?????
is your friends mini me a 11.5 :1 compression d16a6 block with the y8 head?
if so what is his horse power roughly, and did he need to do any thing special? |
Re:high compression mini me?????
i dont know how much compression he is running..but his car wouldnt run anything quicker then a 16.3 in a 1990 CRX

Re:high compression mini me?????
with my high comression i have to wory about vale reliefs in the pistons, and i dont know if the angles are the dame from the a6 head to the y8 head. and i know that i will be abel to run a hell of a lot better than a 16.3. with the high compression i ran a 16.2 on bald tires, i smoked my tires through 2nd gear.

Anyhow, if you were to put a Y8 head on your a6 block with those pistons you will have a compresson around 13:1 Good luck even running pump gas with compresson like that, I would clay the engine for clearences, god knows if the valves will hit or not, especially when vtec kicks in. Jeff |
Re:high compression mini me?????
yah, i will clay, and i think i will run a thick head gasket. mr gasket makes stakable gasket sets, so i might buy 2 sets and have a huge ------- head gasket.

Re:high compression mini me?????
u might not gain too much power doing that. U have higher compression meaning more power. and if u add a y8 head and lower compression you might just be making the same power but with vtec. see what im getting at?
