Default Hi.....Just a question...no probs yet

Hi Gang,

Great place here, not much info on Hondys over here in Northern Ireland.

Anyway, just a query.

I have an 89 Civic 16i-16 (D16A9) and she runs seriously quick. I had one before but it got stolen and burnt out so i am comparing against this and others such as CRX 16i-16. I mean guys, this thing's QUICK.

Anyway, my old car used to hit the limiter at about 6800rpm which i would imagine is correct, others i have driven do this too. My current 16i-16 limits at 6800rpm as well until it is really warmed up. Then by lord......she goes clean round to 7800. Seriously. I have not touched this car apart from a K&N filter. It was a cheap buy too cos i was pissed at my last beauty being stolen.

This is what makes this car seriously quick cos i can snap up 60mph in second gear and 100 in 3rd (according to the speedo of course)

Does this sound right? is there a chance that this car has been fettled with?....its running with 100,000 miles on the clock and never have i ever seen even a puff of smoke nor smelt it.

Awesome Hondas

I was going to suggest going to a local drag track to see what your times are because that would be the determining factor of what "quick" means, but...

Do you guys even have that kind of stuff over there? If you do, is it like 1/4 KM instead of mile?

i cant see how you can get up to 100 in 3rd unless you have a hf tranny or something

Hi guys,

No, we dont really have drag things over here...........which is a real shame.....its more popular in England and so on.....but we are just a bunch of country bumpkins here.....lol

Oh, and BoosTedZSix........i am not shittin'.........i look at other forums now and again and spend my time laughing at what some people claim.............i aint saying its the fastest ever but i know that in 5th it'll do about 135mph on the clock. There are bound to be inherent differences with the cars over here and there. The "tranny" is a standard one. I know that. Its identical to the old slower civic i had.

When i get a chance, i will get the girlfriend to video 3rd gear as normal then 3rd gear when it is running wild........i am not talking poo. Nor am i gloating......i am just curious.

I used to be like you guys, perhaps not so much into tuning because of the cost over here in the UK..........but i had a real pretty civic (will post piccies soon) back in 2000. 90 shape 16i-16, lowered 75mm on 17's, full black respray, 110 mm remus etc...............stolen and burnt out 2 weeks later. Lost heart since then.........just bought the other to have a quick car and cos i loved hondas.

I cracked the brain open and there is nothing in there that looks aftermarket. That is, all chips are soldered on and dont look like they have been tinkered with.

Cheers

Andy
