Here is my plan....will it work?

I want to get a b18b short block and put my b16 head on it to have vtec. I want to find one with relatively low milage and put it in my civic and stick with 8 psi, and go hondata.
Does this sound like an ok plan?
Does anyone know how much hp and torque a ls/vtec combo would make?

It should work fine. I'm not sure what the HP numbers would be, but I know Jeff's done an LS Vtec turbo in the past. maybe he's gotten it dyno'd and could toss you some numbers to hope for. ;)

check out the chronicles of projekteg and kyle (LS/VTEC) up at the top for all the details, except for hp numbers, we don't have those right now, I'll go google search on it

Here are the hp numbers i have found, but i dont know if they are accurate
120-145 ft lbs torque
170-190 hp

does anyone know where i can get a b18b short block for cheap?
or maybe a complete engine?

dude screw hondata there are so many dif programs now that you can chip ur ecu and tune easily for half of the price and be just as good as hondata. for a 1/4 of the price.

yeah, but he's obd2, he would have to get a new ecu, get it socketed, obd2 to 1 harness, chip burner, chips, etc., by the time you add all that up, hondata wouldn't be much less.

slammin: you can find b18 blocks fairly easy and prolly less than a new set of forged pistons. your hp numbers that you found are about right, i would say around 180 h.p., but what you're really gaining is the torque, which is what makes the big difference since b16's have very little torque. check out the sticky at the top of the page, there is also a link on the second page to a golden eagle ls/vtec conversion kit (all the oil lines, gaskets, etc. that you will need). check out ebay, i always see at least 2 or 3 ls shortblocks on there.

How high will i be able to rev this setup? will it reach 8000 without problems?

Re:Here is my plan....will it work?

I would swap the oil pump to a GSR pump. But after that I think the top end and bottom end will be able to handle 8000 rpm no problem.

I built an LS VTEC, soon to turboed

You have to use a DOHC VTEC oil pump, B16, or any B18C pump. Bolts right on, easy install, its optional to use the stock b18a/b water pump or upgrade to a VTEC one. If you do you have to use either a GSR belt or a Type-R one.

Stealthmode sells a good oil line kit, that is what I bought. To block the oil passage on the b16 head, I threaded in a block end style fitting instead of welding it up. If you are buying new headbolts, eg ARP. Buy them to match your head.

Jeff's turbo LS VTEC netted 302 HP to the wheels at like 8 grand+ at 12psi, good numbers in my opinion for a 1.8

Side note, don't rev the ---- out this setup, when I ran N/A i had my fuel cutoff at 8250. This is not a REV happy setup.

I like the added displacement, lots of torque compared to just a B16.

My friend had a b16a with a gerredy kit and he put 183.4 HP and 150.blabla Ft/lbs of torque on the dyno. Thats just at 8 psi. I was amazed. He only has an fmu and 255 lph fuel pump. thats it. He gets real close to 14:1 a/f though. That scares me cuz one day it might go boom. It hella fast though. With the B18 you should make at least that. I just can't wait for the vafc and bigger injectors. more boost and better tunning. hell yeah.

haha john. this is just a baseline pull. i need to tune the ---- out of it. im running about 14:1 A/F at 4k, and about 10:1 top end

oh yeah and my boost? dont ask. starts at 8. ends up at 5. ------- wastegate acutator. someone sell me a new greddy 15g internal waste gate~!!! ;D

Re:Here is my plan....will it work?

That is a shitty pull for a b16 running 8psi, it should be closer to 220-240 at the wheels. What turbo are you running? and please get some better management then an FMU.
