Help. I think I F#$ked up my motor
I remove the PVC hose from the IM while the motor was running to put in some sea foam and it started to rev to 4k +, so turned off the engine and just poured a 1/3 in the IM and a 1/3 in the crankcase. I wait a few minutes and when I go to start it, it turns over and make a horrible sounds and doesn't start. Then when I tryed to start it, the lights on the speedometer just dim and the starter clicks. The starter is good, no prob. untill now. So, I took it in my garage and removed; the starter, plugs, t-belt, oil, and I can't get it to turn over. It'll only go back and forth maybe 3/4 turn. ???? ---- I hope the motor isn't fucked.

Re: Help. I think I F#$ked up my motor
Why are you pouring large quantities of liquid into your engine??? Dribbling a little into the intake while running, okay, but :( :( :(

Re: Help. I think I F#$ked up my motor
So, what am I looking at here; new bearings, motor??
|
Re: Help. I think I F#$ked up my motor
Motor most likely.

Re: Help. I think I F#$ked up my motor
haha damn. Reading instructions pwns j00! Time to tear it apart and check it out....or pull the plugs on a hot day and let the engine sit in the sun to try and dry it out. then see if it starts....prolly not, but worth a shot.

Re: Help. I think I F#$ked up my motor
if it was hydro locked pulling the plugs would have worked unless you kept trying first and bent a connecting rod. 8)

Re: Help. I think I F#$ked up my motor
^^ ^ It's pretty cold right now, where I live.
I actually tried to turn it over quite a few times after it happend. Should I leave the plugs out for a few days and try to turn it over. I have a heat gun :) . I already drained the oil... |
Re: Help. I think I F#$ked up my motor
taking the sparkplugs out probably isn't going to work. i might have the first time you tried to crant it but not if you continued to do it till it wont crank at all. i say post pics of the with the head and pan off

Re: Help. I think I F#$ked up my motor
Good thing sohc's are cheap. Next time read the instructions alil better.

Re: Help. I think I F#$ked up my motor
what the hell did you pour a 1/3 of into the IM and crankcase? and why? btw, if you need a new engine, sounds like you will, i will be pulling my STD model d15 out very soon, it runs perfectly with no oil leaks PM me to talk more

Re: Help. I think I F#$ked up my motor
right after I poured it in, I tryed to start it, Horrible noise, immediatly stopped. I tried to turn it over again and I think it maybe turner a very litte bit. Then when I tryed to start it the lights on the gauge cluster just dimmed and solenoid just clicked. It wouldn't turn over at all. I did try to kick start it though ::) , didn't really put it that high up a hill, I had to push that ----. I put it in the garage and I starting pulling ---- (t-belt) to see if it would turn over with a ratchet on the crank.
Yeah, I'm a dumbass, learned my lesson. I'm pulling the motor tomorrow. I'll rip it apart and take pics. |
Re: Help. I think I F#$ked up my motor
damn that sucks
|
Re: Help. I think I F#$ked up my motor
I don't think - but could be wrong - that the starter is strong enough to bend a rod or the like.
Trying to roll start the car would, though. In a heartbeat. |

Re: Help. I think I F#$ked up my motor
Where do you work? What cars?
Probably an oversquare engine with pencil rods. Nissan Spec-V, for example. They make D15 rods look manly. |
Re: Help. I think I F#$ked up my motor
Wow that sucks, way to ruin a good day eh?

I took off the head and the tranny. All the pistons turned (about 3/4 back and forth) except one piston. I could push it down easily though. Kick starting it might have fucked up the block.......?? I might rip it apart tomorrow and get some pic's up. |

Re: Help. I think I F#$ked up my motor
I know I'm supposed to be smart and all that, but when a motor is hydrolocked, what mechanically is the problem. Yes there's water ect. in the motor, but what mechanical part of the motor does it ---- up beyond drying it out and it working again. Enlighten the smart guy. :P

Re: Help. I think I F#$ked up my motor
When you hydrolock a motor you ingest water and break parts such as rods, pistons, pins, cylinders etc.Implying broken stuff.Cold air intakes are bad for this if you live in areas that get heavy rainfall like the lower mainland of BC,Seattle etc where there is quite often huge puddles at the bottom of freeway exits etc.I used to be into 4x4ing and i have witnessed a few people hydrlock there engines.

get enough water in there to fill volume during compression stroke and bam, the piston hits a brick wall. the momentum of the crank and power strokes of other cylinders are enough to bend or break a rod since the piston wont go up anymore. |
Re: Help. I think I F#$ked up my motor
I'm worried now that the block might not be good anymore....... >:( I'm going to rip it apart in a minute.
|
Re: Help. I think I F#$ked up my motor
dont worry too much. D series motors are only worth about $400.
