HELP!!!!! head gasket removal...

i have a 90 crx si d16a6 motor and i'm trying to remove the head gasket from it. appearantly it's not a copper type head gasket so i'm having a hard time removing the left over pieces that are left on the head and block. i've tried spraying paint removal and etc...but i'm still having a hard time removing all of the left over. if anyone has remove a head gasket from a stock crx motor, help me asap!!!!!!!!!! also, is it necessary to remove all of the left over pieces on the head and block????

Acutally its crucial that you remove everything so you could have proper sealing or else its going to leak. Use a blade, also check for warpage on the block. Take the head to a machine shop for resurfacing. Hope this helps

Yes, make sure it is COMPLETELY clean. Don't be lazy about this part. A razor works good. A plastic razor might be better for you.

Napa gasket remover!! or any gasket remover will work wonders. I learned the hard way.
gasket remover and a putty knife is what i use, just keep repeating the spray, wait, scrape process till its all gone.

good luck

If its being a bastard like mine was i have a angleside grinder w/a gasketremoval tool attached to it . The only downside is that you need air , the tool to do it with . Make friends w/a mechanic and talkem into lending it to you. If not now i wonder if you could sand it down with a heavy grit sandpaper. Hope i helped.

Well, i just rebuilt my mini-me swap, and i used an angle grinder with a wizz wheel atachment. It took the damn thing right off, and left a nice clean polsihed deck. Watch out with the razor blades that you don't gouge the deck though, if you do, you may need to get it decked a hair. Hope this helps u out...
