Help guys---still having speedo problem

00' Civic DX. Swapped the motor three months ago with another d716y from a 99....ended up using the motor, harness and ecu from the same car....everything started and is working. The car was wrecked I pulled from so my SRS light is on...no biggie I dont care. Ecu was different then mine though 5 plugs on harness, only three on ecu, one blue one plugged into the service connecter and one hanging..
Speedometer does not work and its the same tranny/VSS from my first build which was working. Im clueless to what to try. i checked the sensor for crack and it all looks good. No cell being thrown, fuses are all good.....everything is plugged in and the ground under the head is also plugged in....checked all ground and everything is good and tight.....

Guys I need help, this is my second no inspection ticket I recieved and ive got 4 days before I have to pay 240 bucks.....

Id rather not give the city any more of my money...

I personally don't get my car inspected. I pay this guy a little xtra to pass my car that way i don't have to worry about failing. This might sound stupid but did you check the wire connected to the tranny? I'm not a pro but i just wanted to help out. Don't worry someone will help you out.

Yeah I normally pay for a tag, but then I dont get the paper to get the tickets thrown out. I did check the wire though and everything is good there

Re:Help guys---still having speedo problem

Yes motor, harness and ecu is from a 99....tranny and VSS is from my original 2000. I dont know if this is even supposed to work....if I buy a new VSS.....should I get a 2000 to match my tranny, or 99 to match the Ecu.....i think theyre 96-00 so i didnt think it would matter but then again the ECU is different...thanks!!

Re:Help guys---still having speedo problem

tried putting your stock ecu back in? if it's the same motor the only different should be obd2a vs obd2. should work fine.

Re:Help guys---still having speedo problem

plugs wont even match with the old ecu. Only 1 plug fits and the car wont start....

Re:Help guys---still having speedo problem

you changed the cabin harness too?!

I bet the VSS wire is in the "hanging" plug.. get a service manual for your car and find out which wire is for what.

Re:Help guys---still having speedo problem

no i did not change the cabin harness......only engine...there were 4 plugs coming through the firewall originally, now I have 5 plugs coming through....1 service connector and three ecu....this is the same ECU and harness that was working in the older car....im wondering if that is supposed to hook up into something on the dash...im fucked
